Three Part Lessn n Opening ur Spiritual Eyes ~ A Chalk Talk f Elisha and Firey Charits This lessn will help children begin t ~ listen t the Vice f Gd meditate using sngs and Bible Verses knw that Gd s ways are higher than ur ways Supplies needed fr this lessn: 1. A clr page f Elisha fr each child (supply chalks r crayns and ptinal black light chalks) 2. A large piece f Newsprint fr a teacher t draw while the class acts ut the lessn (ptinal) 3. An ptinal black light and black light chalks fr enhancement f the fire and charit 4. 3 signs: 1) Elisha s Huse (place at frnt f classrm) 2) Israel Camp (place sign n ne side f classrm) 3) Arameans Camp (place sign n the ther side f classrm) Nte: Class will be divided half ne half is the Aramean army and the ther half is Israel s Camp crwns fr each f the tw leaders f the camps: Israel s King and Aramean s King **Nte: T draw a large picture place a small cpy f the picture n a transparency and enlarge the drawing nt a large piece f paper using an verhead prjectr. Or, enlarge the picture frm a PwerPint slide t enlarge yur picture, Trace the utline with a pencil and clr in the drawing with clred chalk during the teaching lessn. Yu will need 2 teachers: 1)teacher t draw the picture while children are acting. 2) teacher t read the stry frm 2 Kings 6 (NIV). Begin acting and guiding the children as yu read r tell the stry 2 Kings 6 (NIV) 2 Kings 6:8-23 Elisha and King f Israel 8 Nw the king f Aram was at war with Israel. After cnferring with his fficers, he said, "I will set up my camp in such and such a place." 9 The man f Gd sent wrd t the king f Israel: "Beware f passing that place, because the Arameans are ging dwn there." 10 S the king f Israel checked n the place indicated by the man f Gd. Time and again Elisha warned the king, s that he was n his guard in such places. Arameans, King f Israel 11 This enraged the king f Aram. He summned his fficers and demanded f them, "Will yu nt tell me which f us is n the side f the king f Israel?" 12 "Nne f us, my lrd the king," said ne f his fficers, "but Elisha, the prphet wh is in Israel, tells the king f Israel the very wrds yu speak in yur bedrm." 13 "G, find ut where he is," the king rdered, "s I can send men and capture him." The reprt came back: "He is in Dthan." 14 Then he sent hrses and charits and a strng frce there. They went by night and surrunded the city. 3 Arameans, Servant, Elisha 15 When the servant f the man f Gd gt up and went ut early the next mrning, an army with hrses and charits had surrunded the city. "Oh, my lrd, what shall we d?" the servant asked. 16 "Dn't be afraid," the prphet answered. "Thse wh are with us are mre than thse wh are with them." 17 And Elisha prayed, "O LORD, pen his eyes s he may see." Then the LORD pened the servant's eyes, and he lked and saw the hills full f hrses and charits f fire all arund Elisha. 18 As the enemy came dwn tward him, Elisha prayed t the LORD, "Strike these peple with blindness." S he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. 19 Elisha tld them, "This is nt the rad and this is nt the city. Fllw me, and I will lead yu t the man yu are lking fr." And he led them t Samaria. Arameans, Elisha, Israel 20 After they entered the city, Elisha said, "LORD, pen the eyes f these men s they can see." Then the LORD pened their eyes and they lked, and there they were, inside Samaria. 21 When the king f Israel saw them, he asked Elisha, "Shall I kill them, my father? Shall I kill them?" 22 "D nt kill them," he answered. "Wuld yu kill men yu have captured with yur wn swrd r bw? Set fd and water befre them s that they may eat and drink and then g back t their master." 23 S he prepared a great feast fr them, and after they had finished eating and drinking, he sent them away, and they returned t their master. S the bands frm Aram stpped raiding Israel's territry. PART II Bible Meditatin Wrkshp Instruct all three acting grups t return t their seats. Is Gd a pwerful Gd? What a wnderful stry directly taken frm Gd's Wrd, the Bible. Elisha's servant was afraid wasn't he? He saw the real army that surrunded him and was scared! But, what happened when the servant's eye's were pened? He culd see int the spiritual realm. D yu knw that surrunding yu are angles. There are many kinds f angles -- yu dn't want t ever pray t an angel -- but yu can pray t Gd, "please Gd send yur warring angles t fight fr me when I'm in truble". And, dn't yu knw, Gd will answer yur prayer. I want t ask yu, "What d yu fear? (Ask children t name their fears.) Then ask, if yu culd see int the spiritual realm like Elisha culd see and the servant was able t see when his eyes were pen -- wuld yu still have yur fear? If yu culd see the angels arund yu and yur situatin, yu wuld n lnger be afraid. Teacher: Keep the same three grups chse a leader fr the grup a teacher wuld be best t lead Gd s ways are higher than ur ways. He fights his battles in the heavenly realms. In this stry, n ne was hurt in the battle. And, everyne came t knw the Gd f Israel. Ask, hw many here wuld like t be able t see int the spiritual realm similar t what Elisha and his servant were able t d? We have a few exercises that will help yu begin t see mre in t the spiritual realm and t hear Gd s vice. Very few peple tday are able t see int the spiritual realm with ur eyes pen. But mst f us can see int this realm with ur eyes clsed. Smetimes we call this receiving a visin frm Gd. Nt all f yu will receive a visin frm Gd, but mst f yu will. 4 Ask the children t clse their eyes and picture the fllwing examples ne at a time. Then, wait a mment and ask the children t pen their eyes and share the picture the Lrd gave t them. Picture in yur mind, an ice cream cne, (wait a few secnds and ask the children t pen their eyes). Ask the children if they culd picture an ice cream cne. Ask them what flavr was n their cne? What kind f cne did it have? Nw, clse yur eyes again. This time picture a balln ask the children again t share what they saw Clse yur eyes again. This time picture a bird ask the children again t share what they saw Gd may place a picture in yur mind in a similar way pictures frm Gd are called visins Nw, clse yur eyes again and this time picture Jesus in yur eyes. Wait a few secnds and then ask the children t raise their hand if they saw Jesus. Ask the children what Jesus lked like. Many f the children will want t share. Meditate with a Bible verse Ask the children t recite a verse tgether 3 times in a rw. A gd ne t start with might be Revelatin 3:20 & 21 Ask the children t clse their eyes and listen as the teacher reads and see if Gd gives them a picture Ask the children t pen their eyes and share what Gd shwed them Meditate with a Wrship Sng Ask the children t listen t a gd wrship sng with their eyes clsed (suggest: by Michael W Smith) Ask the children t pen their eyes and share what Gd shwed them PART III (Optinal) Cnclusin Open Our Eyes Lrd Talk abut the large picture drawing: Gd wants t reveal himself t yu. The spiritual realm is surrunding us just like it did in the days f Elisha and Gd is preparing this generatin t mre fully experience and apprehend this realm. The Lrd is the Captain f the heavenly hsts. With Him are messenger spirits and warring spirits and varius thers wrking in the Heavenly realm. Gd may send an angel frm the heavenly hsts t heal smene wh is sick, r in truble. It is gd fr us t begin t recgnize the pwers available and surrunding us in the spiritual realm. Ask the children t clr their picture if time allws. If a teacher has been drawing a large picture at the frnt f the class rm**, add sme glw in the dark chalk t the drawing and turn n a black light if yu have ne available. Children culd add the glw chalk t their drawings s their drawing will glw in their bedrm at night. Yu culd make a cntest f the best drawing by having the children vte fr each ther. Tell them they can vte as many times as they wuld like. Clsing Prayer Lrd, we want t knw yu better. We ask yu t pen ur spiritual eyes s that we may see yu mre clearly.
