20 We try psychology. One day I woke up with an idea. Positive reinforcement! Extra credit [for no phones in class]!

21 We refuse. If the philosopher at Syracuse University catches a student sending text messages or reading a newspaper in class, he'll end the class on the spot and walk out.

23 Embrace mobile technology. Use it.

25 What is mobile learning? Using portable computing devices (such as ipads, laptops, tablet PCs, PDAs, and smart phones) with wireless networks in an educational context. Mobility allows teaching and learning to extend to spaces beyond the traditional classroom. In the classroom, instructors and learners have increased flexibility and new opportunities for interaction. EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology.

26 What is mobile learning? Mobile learning involves the use of mobile technology, either alone or in combination with other information and communication technology (ICT), to enable learning anytime and anywhere. Learning can unfold in a variety of ways: people can use mobile devices to access educational resources, connect with others, or create content, both inside and outside classrooms. Mobile learning also encompasses efforts to support broad educational goals such as the effective administration of school systems and improved communication between schools and families.
