3 IV - Research experience October December 1995: Completed the graduation scientific training in the Centre for Experimental Cytology, University of Porto, under supervision of Professor Pedro Moradas-Ferreira on "Analysis of p37 on Kluyveromyces marxianus wall and cloning in E. coli". Final mark: 18/20. January February 1997: Completed a research project at the Centre of Experimental Cytology, University of Porto, called Transport and processing of a wall protein of Kluyveromyces marxianus, supervised by Ph.D. Paulo Fernandes. Between April and October 1996 was supported by a scientific studentship from JNICT (BIC 1659). October September 1998: Training period at the Quality Department of the Brewery UNICER Bebidas de Portugal SGPS S.A. March 1998: Started a Ph.D at Faculty of Science, University of Porto, supported by a Ph.D studentship (PRAXIS/4/4.1/BD/4333) within the project Factors affecting beer flavour stability: Studies on the whole process from barley to beer, in collaboration with UNICER- Bebidas de Portugal, SGPS S.A. September December 1998: Visiting Research Scientist at Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium).
