2 SENKING CONTINUOUS BATCH WASHER UNIVERSAL SL S S After the successful introduction of the innovative UNIVERSAL continuous batch washer, JENSEN-SENKING sets further standards in washing technology in the industrial laundry: The new continuous batch washer UNIVERSAL SL a CBW offering optimal hygienic standards, considerably lower maintenance, without recovery tanks, with very low use of water and energy and, of course, the UNIVERSAL SL continuous batch washer is able to process all linen classifications. (Patent pending). The UNIVERSAL SL is the best choice for every textile service supplier dealing with workwear, because with this machine the processing of different kinds of linen is so easy. The stainless steel pipe work can easily be cleaned between the batches of different colours and soiling, without having to use recovery tanks. The UNIVERSAL SL is the ideal machine to meet the demands on the processing of hospital linen. Its design avoids any recovery tanks making this tunnel washer an ideal unit for an industrial laundry in combination with a SENKING extraction machine. The UNIVERSAL SL guarantees an effective disinfection of the linen as has been proved by the UNIVERSAL version. All parts in contact with water will be protected against bacteria by individually adapted disinfection routines. Process The proven bath exchange technique with standing baths in the pre- and main-wash-zone is an important feature and condition for high flexibility and gives low operational costs (patented). Different kinds of linen may be washed directly one after the other in this process. The very large usable drum volume with two strong wash beaters and the eccentric shaped helix washboard guarantee a high mechanical action (patented). The new feature of the UNIVERSAL SL is the water management process. By means of a specially adapted technique it is possible to recycle water internally in the machine with-

The pipe work is rinsed and cleaned automatically when a colour change of the linen is done. All water flows are controlled by inductive flow meters. The advantage is that the machine is completely dry and clean below and around with importantly improved hygienic qualities. Consumption characteristics It is one of the special qualities of this unique continuous batch washer that low water consumption figures are achieved without the need for buffer tanks. Due to the specially designed recovery system with separate reuse from particular sections of the rinse zone the machine can use different recovery possibilities during colour changes than it traditionally would, this leads to a lower water consumption. The complete re-use of rinse and press water is a standard feature. To achieve this aim, the press and the continuous batch washer have been connected so that the press water is fed into the rinse zone by a pressure-resistant pipeline. Without the recovery tanks, heat losses can even be more reduced. Drain valves with clamp closures allow easy maintenance.

4 DESIGN DETAILS The UNIVERSAL SL especially excels because of high-quality manufactured components. The core of the machine is its high-solid inner drum with its eccentric Archimedean helix. All pipes, both for fresh and waste water are made of stainless steel as a standard feature, (a stainless steel central drain collecting pipe as an option). Stainless steel pumps and valves are arranged in such a way that any maintenance work can easily be carried out without draining the whole liquor. For easy maintenance all drain valves are equipped with a clamp closure mechanism. For colour change and for pre-washing with hot water for workwear a steam-jet heater is available (option). The dosing of detergents is based on the actual loading weight of each batch. Depending on the linen mix an appropriate SENKING SEP SL water extraction press can be chosen, which guarantees the optimal moisture retention for fully drying and finishing. Furthermore, the press is characterized by unique hygienic features and thus perfectly complements the continuous batch washer. It is also possible to combine the heavy-duty centrifugal extractor SENKING Z 1200 with the UNIVERSAL SL if predominantly garment and other types of linen need to be processed. It can process an extremely wide range of G-factors at very short cycle times and extracts sensitive textiles and obtaining low moisture retention results.the number and type of dryers can be selected from the JENSEN range to suit the throughput and type of linen being processed. The use of a bus wired control system allows for a seamless and fault free transfer of data through the line.
