2 Marketing Made Simple Three Simplified Online Systems Hello! Most likely you downloaded this ebook from a blog post talking about how many business owners get so overwhelmed with online marketing, they give up. Giving up isn t a good idea these days. More and more marketing is happening online. Every business owner can benefit from online marketing, with a mind shift and a simplified system to follow. On the following pages you will find three simplified online marketing systems to generate traffic to your website and to increase your subscriber base. The goal of each system is to capture addresses of your targeted visitors. It is through marketing that you ll be able to build a community of people interested in you and what you offer. You can nurture those who have yet to purchase and strengthen your relationship with those who have. The following systems suggest barebones involvement. Some of the efforts listed are one-time initiatives while others are ongoing. Obviously, the more attention you pay to your online efforts, the more rewarding they will be. But here s the important part The key to generating traffic and building your list successfully is to select a few techniques that fit your audience and then to be C O N S I S T E N T That s it! 1

3 No magic hocus pocus stuff. No tricks, hacks, or under the radar maneuvering. Just do the work. And, be consistent about doing the work. Read through each of the three systems and select the one that best fits your target audience. Make a commitment to start today and to stay at it for at least 60 days. That should be long enough to have all the pieces in place and to have generated new subscribers. I. A Facebook System Best for Consumer Market (B2C) If you know your consumers are on Facebook, here is a relatively simple system that won t consume much of your time, but will help you translate your traffic into subscribers. Website/Blog o Use a pop-up form offering a FREE something your customers will WANT to boost your subscriber rates on your website. o Make it easy for them to contact you by having contact information phone number, map, directions, etc. front and center on all of your web pages. Facebook o Create or enhance your Facebook Page. o Determine the best time to update by reviewing your Facebook Insights or through experimentation. o Insert an capture form in one of your Facebook tabs offering your FREE something. 2

4 o Once a week preload a minimum of 5 updates or more a week using the clock icon in the lower left of the sharing tool. Schedule at least one post for every day of the week. o Share great photos, other Facebook posts, industry information, customer feedback, blog posts from your website, announce sales, events, and any other tool you believe will generate traffic. o Include one subscriber reminder every week along with your other updates. o Ask your friends to share with their networks. o Respond to all comments, likes and shares and twice a week spend about 15 minutes returning the favor to others. Google+ o Claim or enhance your Google+ listing. o Make Google+ visitors aware that you have a FREE offer they may want to download on your website and include link. o Encourage existing customers to provide you with reviews on Google+. Offline marketing o Always integrate your offline marketing (e.g. newspaper, radio, TV advertising, etc.) with online by including website address and encouraging subscriber sign-ups. Marketing o Create an autoresponder series of s sending your subscribers valued information at least once a month. Get them used to hearing from you and encourage them to share with their networks. o Periodically send a special to your list of subscribers to promote events, sales or in-store or online activities or contests. 3

A Blogger System Best for Bloggers, Coaches, Speakers, Online Marketers and Trainers If you re targeting people to teach them how to do something better in life, in business, in the world, then the blogger model may be your best core system. Website/Blog o Use a pop-up form offering your FREE something to boost your subscriber rates on your website. o Add new posts that are SEO targeted to your keywords at least two times or more a week. These may be posts you create or from guest bloggers or from employees. o Create and establish rapport with other influential bloggers by including links in your posts of their blog posts and making them aware that you are sharing with your audience. o Identify influential online sites and bloggers that allow guest blogging and pitch them with your guest blog ideas to generate back links. Shoot for at least two guest blogs a month to increase website traffic and to increase your subscriber list. Webinars o Joint venture with some comparable online bloggers and offer webinars sharing valuable information, tips, insights to their subscribers to increase your subscriber list. Be certain to return the favor. Marketing o Create an autoresponder series or an RSS feed of your blog posts sending your subscribers valued information every week. Get them used to hearing from you and encourage them to share with their networks. 4

6 o Periodically send a special to promote events, contests, encourage product purchases or other online activities. III. A LinkedIn System Best for Business to Business (B2B) Focusing your efforts on LinkedIn makes a lot of sense if your customers are other businesses, executives, professionals or organizations that service the business community, (e.g. Chambers, professional associations, etc.). Website/Blog o Use a pop-up form offering your FREE something to boost your subscriber rates on your website. o Add new posts at least two times or more a week. These may be posts you create or from guest bloggers or from employees. o Get into the monthly habit of creating free ebooks, white papers, power point presentations, videos, templates and other materials your customers will WANT to download. Request their address to gain access. LinkedIn o Create or enhance company LinkedIn page. o Automatically add your blog posts to your LinkedIn page. Include posts announcing the new white paper, ebooks and other materials and calling for people to download. o Join other groups to connect and share with other LinkedIn members. o Consider creating a LinkedIn group, BUT only if you have the time to manage such a group. You will gain access to all of your group members addresses. o Respond to all direct messages and invitations on a weekly basis or more frequently. 5

7 Webinars o Periodically offer webinars sharing valuable information, tips, and insights to your LinkedIn group members to increase your subscriber list. Marketing o Create an autoresponder series or an RSS feed of your blog posts sending your subscribers valued information every week. Get them used to hearing from you and encourage them to share with their networks. o Periodically send a special to promote webinars, events, free downloads, speaking engagements, product trials, product purchases, etc. FAQs Are there other systems? Of course, there are. But that s the problem, isn t it? There are too many options, too many combinations. So many, that you and many other business owners get lost trying to figure it all out. The proposed systems represent a barebones approach yet provide you with a strong core one that can easily grow with you as you become more accomplished online. Can I mix and match? Absolutely! That is the beauty of the Internet. There are a lot of different paths to reach your goals and a lot of combinations. 6

8 BUT the purpose of the above systems is to get you focused and out from under a sense of frustration that you re not accomplishing much through your online marketing efforts. That is why I strongly suggest you not mix and match until you have one system down cold and it is working for you like a well-oiled machine. Only then do you want to add other tools or platforms because every new effort will require additional time and effort on your part. What about Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and all of the other platforms out there? These are great tools and can definitely build traffic for you. If you re a retailer, using Pinterest is a fantastic idea. If you are B2B, Facebook may be a good add-on. BUT not until you have your core system in place and working flawlessly. Remember, it is by juggling too many tools and platforms without a core focus that leads to overwhelm, frustration and ultimately to giving-up on online marketing. Again, the goal is to simplify the process so you start developing some momentum in building a strong subscriber list. Once that happens, you can begin to experiment with other social media platforms and other tools to generate online traffic such as Facebook or LinkedIn advertising, Twitter or Pinterest. Just be selective. Your time is precious and you only want to spend it on those tools that will deliver. 7
