2 Quick guide to higher and degree apprenticeships Apprenticeships let you earn and learn simultaneously, from minimum wage up to 300 per week. You ll be a paid employee of your company, with a contract of employment and holiday entitlement. Apprenticeships offer a package of work and study, where you ll gain qualifications and hands-on experience while you work. Employers including Deloitte, BMW and the BBC take on apprenticeships and opportunities span across sectors, from engineering to law - you might be surprised by what s on offer. In fact, there are more than 28,000 apprenticeship vacancies available, across more than 1,500 roles. A degree apprenticeship is a relatively new type of apprenticeship, which leads to a full university degree - but without the tuition fees. According to the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, 90% of apprentices stay employed after completing an apprenticeship.

6 Entry requirements: The Degree Apprenticeship lasts for 3 years and leads to a BSc. in Digital & Technology Solutions. This route is open to candidates with 'A' levels or equivalent level 3 qualifications: 200 UCAS points across 2 or 3 A Levels in STEM subjects, such as Maths, Computing or Science. Other Requirements A real interest in technology and the desire to build skills in this area Commitment and aptitude to complete the training and studying required. 7 Be a spy with MI5 and MI6 Apprenticeships via their British Intelligence Higher Apprenticeship in IT, Software, Internet and Telecoms Entry requirements You must be a British citizen, or in the process of applying to become one. You must be aged 18 years old or over. You must have lived in the UK for the last 10 years. Whilst GCHQ don t reveal their academic requirements, they will be looking for students who excel in IT and Technology for these roles as well as looking for a strong analytical mind set and experience of computer programming and software.

8 John Lewis Partnership Retail Manager Apprenticeship Scheme Level 4 Are you set to achieve A to C grades in at least two of your A Levels? The John Lewis level 4 Retail Manager Apprenticeship is an 18 month programme designed to lead to a permanent management position within the retail function of the John Lewis Partnership. You have an intensive induction and take on management duties straight away.

9 PR Apprenticeships Every year top PR and marketing companies recruit apprentices. One such company is London-based Street & Co, their apprenticeship scheme is listed on the government website: Requirements include: Minimum of 3 A Levels, GCSE A*- C in English and Maths. What you get? The Street & Co scheme will pay 320 a week, last 15 months, and you will gain a Level 4 Higher PRCA Apprenticeship. Plus working on a variety of campaigns for diverse clients such as Tate Modern, top restaurants, charity projects and hotels.

10 In the UK, apprenticeships are available at Airbus, Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defence and Space. All our programmes last 3 years or 5 years and combine college or university studies with practical training.

12 Academic requirements GCSEs- All BrightStart apprentices need GCSE Maths, Grade B or above and GCSE English, C or above. Audit & Risk Advisory applicants should have GCSE Grade B or above in both Maths and English. A Levels (or equivalent) You ll need 260 UCAS points; that s the equivalent of two Cs and one B at A level. There are four business areas you can choose from: Audit & Risk Advisory, Consulting, Financial Advisory and Tax Consulting. You can enter keywords such as media, outdoor pursuits, engineering, as well as your location and distance you want to travel to your apprenticeship.
