Wingspan Arts is a non-profit that is fully insured and professionally managed. Wingspan is held ON-SITE at PS 340. Wingspan works in partnership with PS 340 to offer semester-long afterschool activities that meet once a week. Our staff includes: Site Director, assistants and trained arts professionals. A Day at Wingspan Arts When students are dismissed from school, they are escorted to Wingspan s central meeting area at PS 340. Students are provided with a snack and a variety of activities from school dismissal until 3:15PM. Enrichment classes run for 90 minutes from 3:15-4:45PM. Pick-up runs from 4:45-6:00PM. Students are encouraged to work on homework, read independently, play outside, solve puzzles, draw pictures, or engage in other activities. Pick-up ends promptly at 6:00PM; a fee of $1/minute will be charged for any students remaining after 6:00PM. Tax Information: Wingspan Arts is a non-profit and can be claimed as a childcare expense on your taxes, or paid for with a flex spending account! Our Federal Tax ID is , and our office can provide you with a formal receipt. Scholarships & Financial Aid: Wingspan Arts is committed to making sure our programs are accessible to all families, regardless of their ability to pay. We offer discounted rates for students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and scholarships are available for any family for whom Wingspan programming would be a financial hardship. To find out more about our financial aid program, please contact our office. Refund Policy: If your child is not satisfied with his/her afterschool class, and withdraws within the first two weeks, Wingspan Arts offers a full credit to your Wingspan account to be used for a future afterschool class or half-day program. After the first two weeks, Wingspan offers a pro-rated refund to your Wingspan account. If you wish instead to be refunded to your credit card, Wingspan Arts charges a $50 refund fee this covers the cost to Wingspan of issuing a refund. A WingspanArts Production

3 ! MONDAY PS 340 Grade Pre-K Lego Creations $15 Materials Fee Legos just got even more fun! In this class, students will experience the excitement and creativity of Legos and learning! This class will introduce teamwork, observation, creative thinking and problem-solving skills all while using creativity and imagination to build the most amazing creations imaginable! Grades Pre-K & K Puppets & Play Create your own puppets and bring them to life! This class will give students a chance to build puppets from lollipops, styrofoam balls, vegetables, fruit, and pop-up paper. Best of all, every student will get to take their puppets home! The class culminates in a puppet show at the end of the semester. Grades K-1 Mini-Musical 5, 6, 7, 8! Get ready for a song and dance experience like you have never had before. This class will explore musical theatre, dance and music and give you the chance to do it yourself! Not only will you get to work on your turns and time-steps, but you will also work on creating your own original show! Grades 1-2 Super Soccer Stars $40 Insurance Fee Come and learn about the world s most popular sport in this fun and active class. Super Soccer Stars will teach you basic skills, warm-ups and tips on how to keep fit. So sign up, build your self-confidence, and become part of the Super Soccer Stars team. TUESDAY Grade Pre-K Storytime Theatre Let your imagination soar by combining storytelling with theatre! Students will hear classic and contemporary children s stories, and then they ll get a chance to create a menagerie of their own unique characters and plots! Grades Pre-K & K Music Factory Through songs, games and exercises, students will explore the fundamentals of music and composition. Dynamics, tempo, pitch, melody, beat and rhythm will be the focus of this exciting music composition class. The musicians in this class will learn about different instruments and develop skills in songwriting. Students will learn singing techniques, build their knowledge of music theory and terminology, and create their own sounds in the music factory! Grades K-1 Hip Hop With a combination of old school and new school hip-hop, students will learn cutting edge street dance movements like popping, locking, hitting, jamming, electric boogaloo,

4 PS 340 break, and other urban dance moves. This class gives every student a hip hop dance experience unlike any other. Grades 1-2 Art of Science $15 Materials Fee In Art of Science we explore science creatively, using our right brain and all of our senses. We'll taste the periodic table, discover the science of music and explore the solar system, space, and even dinosaurs through dance, theatre games and puppetry. We will paint, color, and craft experiments that help us understand friction, force, chemical reactions, and so much more! We'll stay clued into science in the news and of course we'll launch an air rocket or two. This class is perfect for the creative and the curious. WEDNESDAY Grade Pre-K Music Makers Through songs, games, and exercises, students will explore the fundamentals of music. We ll learn about dynamics, tempo, pitch, melody, beat, and rhythm. In the course of our time together we will write our own songs and leave with a core understanding of musical vocabulary. Grades Pre-K & K Jr. Asphalt Jungle This energetic class will be having tons of fun in the schoolyard. Students will play four square, stickball, chalk games, and many more as they explore the most popular games on the playground! And not just recent games they ll explore games from days past, and have a ball on the playground! Grades K-1 Edible Art $25 Materials Fee It's art you can eat! Join us as we make art out of fresh foods, make art inspired by food, and use our creativity and taste buds to the max! Students will be able to take home some art projects, and share recipes with their families. Grades 1-2 Actor s Toolkit In Actor s Toolkit, students will build their skills in imaginative storytelling and improvisation. Through theatre games and ensemble-building activities, the actors in this class will learn about character development, plot structure, and scene study. Students will develop their emotional awareness and social skills, while also building their toolkit to become great actors! THURSDAY Grade Pre-K Movin & Groovin This high-energy class combines rhythm and dance to get everyone movin to the beat! Explore different beats and rhythms, and find new ways to move to the groove.

5 PS 340 Grades Pre-K & K Global Arts Let's see the world through the eyes of artists! We are going to paint, draw and create our way around the world, visiting countries and cultures. Through different stories, celebrations, and traditions, we are going to bring the world to our classroom. Grades K-1 Super Soccer Stars $40 Insurance Fee Come and learn about the world s most popular sport in this fun and active class. Grades 1-2 Cartooning Ever wanted Wiley Coyote to catch the Road Runner? Ever thought of a new cartoon character? Anything is possible in this class as students develop skills in drawing and creating cartoons. All artists will have the opportunity to turn their preliminary sketches into colorful characters as they create their own original comic strip! FRIDAY Grade Pre-K Painter s Palette Create sketch drawings and turn them into beautiful paintings using a variety of paints and canvases! Learn how to use color and value to create light, shadows and form. Explore composition, color mixing, painting techniques and self-expression in this fun class! Grades Pre-K - 1 Myths & Legends What do the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, and Paul Bunyan have in common? Well, in Myths & Legends, all their stories will come alive! In this creative class, students will be introduced to drama and theatre through the use of timeless myths and legends. As a final presentation they will stage their very own adaptation or perhaps even create their own story! Grades K-2 Karate with KP for Kids $40 Insurance Fee KP for Kids is a professional karate afterschool program staffed with well-trained instructors that demonstrate respectful behavior in an active, physical, fun-loving environment. It is our philosophy that all children must be treated respectfully in order to emulate that behavior towards others. Additionally, children should have access to a safe, healthy, encouraging afterschool activity that will help develop not only their physical abilities, but also their mental focus and concentration. KP for Kids offers this in a goal oriented traditional belt karate program with the addition of incorporating healthy Pilates exercises to promote core strength for all activities. If you are a new student, a $30 uniform fee will also apply.
