1 THIRD MODULE DETERMINERS AND CONDITIONERS OF NON PRESCRIPTIVE DRUGS AND CONSUME. INTRODUCTION This module presents different factors which influence in the life of people who consume drugs, there upon affecting the core of family. General Objective: To have a clear idea of the factors that causes drugs addiction in the population. Specific Objectives: To identify the reasons of drugs consumption. To make conscious in the students to say no to drug consume. BIOLOGICAL FACTOR PSYCHOLOGICAL FACTOR ADICTION ENVIRONMENTA L FACTOR CULTURAL PATTERN Biological factors: These may be named as hereditary transmission. Possible path physiological explanations for the increased expression of this genetic risk is that the
2 different metabolic pathways exist in alcoholics has been that the metabolism of alcohol differs between Oriental and not Oriental populations (the so-called "flush" East, which is that subjects of Oriental races have red and unpleasant facial sensations to consume small amounts of alcohol. Another explanation is based on the presence of temperamental and personality characteristics that lead to consumption, there are two types of consumption: one determined by sex and other determined by the environment. The first has high genetic penetrance and reduced environmental components. It usually begins before age 25, with a consumption pattern characterized by high intake of persistent aggressive behavior, antisocial and delinquent. The other type is of later onset, has high and low frequency of consumption and a pattern of progressive loss of control to the extent that the day passes, with greater feelings of guilt after the crisis of intake. The various proposed models agree that people likely to develop addiction have a higher tendency to tolerance or physical dependence. A neurobiological element, which could build the effect of most psychotropic substances, is their ability to release endorphins. This ability is obvious in the case of opioids. In fact, endorphins were conceptually derived from the search for receptors for morphine and its congeners. The ability to induce pleasant moods or inhibit pain, common to most of these substances could then be mediated by the release of endorphins. Psychological Factors: Among the psychological mechanisms, some once-popular hypothesis has been discredited due to some studies. The idea of a personality predisposed to alcoholism or drug, such as the so-called oral structures of the early psychoanalysts or passive-dependent character of later classifications appear to be an antecedent, but a consequence of chronic use of substances. From an initial emphasis on peer group pressure, drug use as an escape or search for euphoria or self-destructive side has come to emphasize more the severe psychological pain that is associated with drug use, and co morbidity of this use as many times severe psychopathology. Also, it appears that the type of drug used is no different, and that different addicts select different drugs depending on their specific organization of personality. The drug has been viewed as a prosthesis "drug" of specific ego defects. Heroin addicts seem to seek the calming effects of opioids while using amphetamines seek the stimulating effect of these, to cause an increase in their self-esteem, often low and also a greater ability to cope with their environment. Found that opiate addicts seek specifically to overcome some defenses against intolerable feelings such as anger, shame and loneliness. The effect of opioids antiaggressive allows addicts to counter the disruptive effect of rabies on the "I". Opiate addicts in particular seem to have particular difficulty in modulating aggressive or angry feelings, so some authors have postulated that these individuals self-medicate to control these effects. Cocaine, including its stimulant effects, seems to produce a greater degree of self-esteem, greater assertiveness, frustration tolerance and lower feelings of boredom and emptiness. This leads to many individuals seek to maintain a cocaine lifestyle hyperactive and restless, and an exaggerated need for self-sufficiency. The self-medication hypothesis explains the role of drugs in solving chronic problems in the person in four areas of functioning: affective, self-esteem, relationships and self-care. Deficits in this area have to explain their vulnerability to the impact of specific drugs. Drugs or alcohol drug offer fast relief against extremely intense emotions.
3 Environmental factors: The environmental aspects, early socialization influence the tendency to use chemicals. Another finding is that there is greater risk of alcoholism among children of alcoholic biological parents not adopted by foster parents alcoholics. There is also a correlation between the presence of drug dependency and an unstable family environment in the broadest sense: the children of separated or households consume chemicals frequencies and development of higher consumption. Among the sociocultural factors, there are cultures in which the mode promotes alcohol consumption, typically among those in which episodically consumed in large quantity. Audiovisual media as television can encourage the use of chemicals either directly or indirectly. Clearly, then, that the family plays a central role in the genesis and maintenance of these problems: the permissive attitude of parents, and consumption of these chemicals. CULTURAL PATTERN There are many reasons why people might use drugs. If kids feel pressured because all their friends are doing them they might start using drugs, too. Peer Pressure occurs when kids want to fit in so they do something they know is wrong not thinking of what could happen. Other kids might do drugs because they are depressed. Low self esteem and sadness cause people to want to do things to take the pain away. This means they might take different drugs to numb themselves and forget their sadness. Unfortunately, drugs often make depression worse. One of the worst reasons to try drugs is boredom. Many teenagers might say they are bored and had nothing better to do so they decided to try drugs because it would be interesting. In all of these cases these people do not understand that drugs can cause serious damage to their bodies and brains. When people try drugs because they are curious it becomes considerably dangerous. You might think you can take any drug and stop after that first time but while many drug users have said that, the majority of people that try certain drugs will become addicted. Most drugs are habit forming and take a lot of work to be able to quit. Even prescription medicines can be addictive if you take them wrong. Experimentation might be a popular excuse but it is one of the easiest ways to ruin your life.
4 CONCLUSION Drug abuse is something that is known in the surrounded environment. Many people, like friends and family members have been inmersed in drugs and it is likely you have seen things about drug abuse on television or in movies. There are programs that teach about dangers of drugs consume represent to our society.
5 JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS LESSON PLAN Directions: Students should read the passage silently, and then answer the questions. Teachers may also use the text as part of a classroom lesson plan. Exercise The most important thing you can do is to show students that drug use, no matter how glamorous it looks, is going to cause them to lose much more than they could ever gain. For this experiment you should split the children into controlled groups for the week. You can let them choose which side they are on or pair them up. Using fake money you will have one group that are addicted to drugs and one group that are responsible adults. Throughout the week the groups will give money for rent, food, and other basic necessities of life. The group that uses drugs will also have to give money for their drugs. If they do not have money to live they will face extra challenges such as having an extra job or ending up in trouble with the law if they break the law to get more drugs. Once the week is over have the students choose one or two of the following questions and write a one page essay on the effects of drugs in society. Option 1 Participate in class about drugs was helpful to me for many reasons. The main things I learned about drugs are. Option 2 Drugs are able to affect people of all walks of life without regard to race, income, or disability. If I were able to stop one of my friends from using drugs I would tell them
