2 INFORMATION KLEIN ISD MISSION STATEMENT The Klein Independent School District, proud of its heritage and embracing the future, develops students to become skillful, active, reflective, self-disciplined, and honorable members of their communities through engaging learning experiences in a safe and nurturing environment. ACCREDITATION Our district is fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency. HISTORY German immigrants led by Adam Klein settled the area in In July 1928, Rural High School District No.1 was formed. In February 1938, this rural district became the Klein Independent School District. Klein ISD covers 87.5 square miles of north Harris county. The center of the district is approximately 40 minutes from downtown Houston. BOARD OF TRUSTEES Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees are held on the second Monday of each month beginning with a closed session at 6 p.m., followed by the public meeting at 7 p.m. in the central office board room at 7200 Spring-Cypress Road, Klein, Texas
3 ENROLLMENT PRE-KINDERGARTEN (PRE-K) Age 4 on or before September 1 of current school year. Note: student must meet specific Federal guidelines KINDERGARTEN Age 5 on or before September 1 of current school year FIRST GRADE Age 6 on or before September 1 of current school year ALL STUDENTS Proof of residence in Klein ISD must be provided. A lease agreement, light, water, or gas bill with your name and address is acceptable. Telephone bills cannot be accepted. For both kindergarten and first grade, students must present proof of identity (birth certificate preferred) and validated immunization record. Students entering all grades must present a withdrawal form or current report card from previous school, proof of identification, and a validated immunization record. Students transferring into Klein ISD should register at the school serving their attendance zone.
4 CURRICULUM Klein ISD is committed to providing an educational program, which incorporates a well-planned, balanced curriculum from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. If a parent or guardian is interested in additional information or answers to questions regarding the curriculum, he or she should telephone the building principal. 21ST CENTURY LEARNERS Through innovative programs like the Technology Baseline Standard Initiative (TBSI) and one-to-one computing program, the Klein ISD has earned a national reputation as being a leader in using technology to transform teaching and learning. To date, the one-to-one program has deployed more than 18,000 Tablet PCs to five secondary campuses in the district.

However, additional students may have enrolled at collegiate institutions that do not require scores from these tests for admissions purposes.
