4 Subject : Managing Business Operations in Europe Professor : Marc Meynardi Contact : Objectives : In view of managing and succeeding an M&A in the EU, this course gives in-depth understanding of the European Union mechanisms and economic environment. It provides the students with the tools to know the 4 European zones, their strengths and weaknesses, their cultural features, and their strategic opportunities for foreign investors. The major characteristics of the European Union Governance Governing bodies and interactions Economy: A challenging situation 2. 5 Subject : European Trends in the Tourism Industry Objectives : Dustin Mc Eldowney Contact : dmceldowney@inseec-edu.com This course will further advance the students knowledge of trends within the tourism industry with an emphasis on Europe. Students will learn to appreciate the links between trends and foreseeable changes in the tourist population. Studies will cover destination development, trending destinations in Europe such as resorts, winter and summer sport(s), outdoor recreation and heritage attractions. At the conclusion of this course, students will have acquired a greater insight into the unique aspects of travel and tourism in Europe in order to become more effective practitioners. Syllabus : Insight into emerging trends in tourism. Types of tourists: Tourist, traveler and excursionist. Determinants and motivators of tourism demand. Explain the unique challenges of tourism and hospitality in Europe. Present an understanding of the historical developments in travel and tourism in the region. Provide students with an understanding of the environmental, socio-cultural, and economic impacts of travel and tourism. Classes will consist of lectures and case studies. 6 Subject : Effective Project Management in Tourism Objectives : Professor : Dustin Mc Eldowney Contact : dmceldowney@inseecedu.com The aim of this course is to develop a graduate that has sound knowledge of tourism and project management so that tourism projects can be well managed and meets the intended mission goals. Students will learn to formulate responses and actions to industry challenges, develop solutions to address problems Acquire successful strategizing skills for destinations, companies, trade organizations, and governmental agencies from the tourism sector. Syllabus : Recognize the ultimate goal of the project(s). Explain the range of guidance and a realistic timetable (project plan that covers deadlines, budget, etc.). Learn to cultivate, manage and collaborate with a multidimensional project team. Acquire insight into best practices of successful project managers: communication, team building, effective monitoring and analysis. Students will gain knowledge of information sources, research tools and methods of analysis. Develop time management tools to design a coherent and comprehensive project schedule. Classes will consist of lectures and case studies. It is specifically designed to help them acquire basic language abilities and essential communicative skills according to their level. Students will be taking a test on the first day of the course to assess their level. Teaching method: in class, emphasis is placed on oral practice and interactive learning activities in a real life approach to the language. It will include simple routine tasks, common polite phrases and exchange of information in order to help students develop their communication skills in daily life situations. We will work in pairs and use role playing activities as well as authentic documents to help you survive and experience relationships in the new culture. Syllabus : Systematic vocabulary work and practice of common expressions in everyday situations and short dialogues.
