Use register, tone and voice level appropriately and purposefully. D. Organize thoughts and feelings before speaking. E. Use a wide vocabulary and complex sentence structures with a high level of accuracy. F. Conduct discussions, taking a clear position and intent of each other. A. Read a wide range of texts independently, (silently and aloud) fluently and accurately. B. Read daily for enjoyment and information for sustained periods. C. Grasp the main theme with an accurate understanding of the content of the passage and understand the relationship among facts, impressions and opinions while clarifying one s thoughts. D. Identify and be aware of the standard organization of the text in accordance with the genre. Composition A. Select a writing theme from ideas, to collect matters to be written. B. Verify and contrive the effect of expression, syntax and sentence structures.

7 C. Use appropriate grammar to support meaning (eg semi- colons, colons, apostrophes, quotation marks, full stops, question marks, exclamation marks, commas) D. Write independently with confidence, demonstrating the individual voice of the writer. E. Plan, organize and complete writing projects of increasing length and complexity. F. Revise writing to clarify ideas, provide examples, change sequence and to improve the smooth flow of ideas. Kanji A.
