15 Smart Grids are seen as a key technology to reach the European goals The EU has set up a European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) to accelerate the development and deployment of costeffective low carbon technologies to achieve its 20/20/20 goals. Electricity Grids is one of the seven Europen Industrial Initiative proposed by the SET Plan.
