22 The Blood Bank dept. in summary The term Blood Banking (Transfusion medicine) refers to the collection, processing, preservation, preparation and distribution of blood and blood components and their derivatives. The SQ Blood Bank module is used by labs to keep track of their blood inventory, process blood from suppliers, record product testing, record patient and patient/unit testing, record QC, and keep a permanent patient history file.
