1 Hazardous Materials Operations Core Level Standard Area: 5..2 Goal and 5.5 Evaluating Progress Evaluate The Progress Of Actions Communicating Status of Planned Response Candidate: JPR #HazOpCore- : Candidate #: STANDARD: (4)(a)(b) & TASK: The candidate shall identify the considerations for evaluating whether actions taken are effective in accomplishing the objectives and describe the circumstances under which it would be prudent to pull back from a hazardous materials/wmd incident and communicates the status of the planned response. PERFORMANCE OUTCOME: Given a scenario with information on equipment, manpower, and location the candidate shall verbally describe the response and evaluate its effectiveness. The candidate shall then verbally describe the circumstances in which it would be prudent to pull back from the incident. You shall verbally identify how to communicate status. Candidate will begin on an instruction to start. The skill will end when the candidate states they have completed all of the identified steps. PERFORMANCE OUTCOME: Given the appropriate equipment the candidate shall perform the procedure for emergency decontamination. Candidate will begin on proctor instruction to start. The skill will end when candidate states to the proctor that they have completed all of the identified steps. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: 00 feet- ½ hose line with nozzle and water supply PROCTOR NOTE: The candidate will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of testing. CONDITIONS:. If the candidate: a. Verbally states that runoff should be controlled, if possible.0 b. Verbally sates that exposure to others must be minimized.0 2. Demonstrate procedures for emergency decontamination: a. Remove the victim from the contaminated area.0 b. Wash immediately any exposed body parts with flooding quantities of water.0 c. Remove victim s clothing and/or PPE rapidly (if possible, cutting from the top down in a manner that minimizes the spread of contaminants).0 d. Perform a quick cycle of head-to-toe rinse, wash, and rinse.0 e. Verbally states to transfer the victim to treatment personnel for assessment, first aid, and medical treatment.0 f. 6 Hazardous Materials Operations Mission Specific PPE Standard Area: Planning The Response Select Personal Protective Equipment Candidate: JPR #HazOpMSPPE- : Candidate #: STANDARD: (3) TASK: The candidate given a selection of PPE shall select the appropriate level of protection from the given options. Candidate will be provided with a selection of chemical protective clothing, respiratory protection and other equipment. Please select the highest level of skin, respiratory, and eye protection. Candidate will begin on proctor s instruction to start. The skill will end when the candidate states they have completed all of the identified steps. PERFORMANCE OUTCOME: EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Level A and B CPC; Flash Over Cover; SCBA; APR Cartridge(s); Rapid Adapter; Hard Hat; Chemical Boots and Gloves; Two-Way Radio; Chem Tape; Duct Tape; Nomex Coveralls; Cooling Vest; Phase Packs. The candidate has attended a hazardous materials incident and responders have been contaminated. It is imperative that a thorough decontamination process be put in place. Please list the components required to conduct formal decontamination via a technical decontamination corridor. Candidate will begin on proctor s instruction to start. The skill will end when the candidate states they have completed all of the identified steps. PERFORMANCE OUTCOME: EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Pen and paper PROCTOR NOTE: The candidate will not be allowed to review the performance steps at the time of testing. CONDITIONS:. EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Structural firefighters clothing, self-contained breathing apparatus, technical decontamination equipment and pressurized water supply.
