2 The National Association of Asian MBAs (NAAMBA) has now joined Ascend. ABOUT AscendNAAMBA As part of Ascend, the new AscendNAAMBA, an organization with global reach, will continue to propel Pan Asian leaders to new heights through mentoring, professional development, and career advancement opportunities. AscendNAAMBA is the MBA component of Ascend, and will continue to offer robust development programs designed to cultivate Pan Asian talent and professional advancement. Before joining Ascend, NAAMBA operated four annual national leadership conferences and career expositions in the U.S. and two global events in Asia in partnership with the MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC), attracting sponsors from a wide range of industries. The organization continues to reach local members, supporters and partners through the activities of Twin Cities, Minnesota and Washington D.C. Regionals. INITIATIVES: National Employee Resource Group (ERG) Council The ERG Council works to connect and mobilize Asian Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) into a critical mass of global leaders who develop talented human capital and create innovative business solutions. The Council has organized three successful Annual ERG Summits in 2010, 2011 and 2012 at the Annual Leadership Conferences Women Leadership Council (WLC) The Women Leadership Council s vision is to create an inclusive community of opportunities for multicultural women leaders to propel them to new professional heights. Ascend reaches over 20,000 people with 16 professional chapters and 28 student chapters in both the U.S. and Canada around major business hubs and educational institutions. 5 OUR PROGRAM OFFERINGS INSPIRING ACROSS GENERATIONS (IAG) Inspiring Across Generations regional conferences gather our corporate and community partners for a day of leadership, mentorship, and relationship development programs providing insight and benefits for both students and seasoned professionals. These conferences also provide benchmarking and networking opportunities with leaders, professionals, and students in your local area. EXECUTIVE INSIGHT SERIES (EIS) EIS was created to assist high potential Pan Asian managers, senior professionals and recent executives to attain and assume leadership roles in major U.S. corporations. Over the years, Ascend has gained significant insight into what works and the specific behaviors, competencies and experiences required at the executive level. MENTORSHIP Mentorship programs focus on professionals and students with typically less than 12 years of experience. These programs not only help mentees advance in their careers, but also benefit mentors by enabling them to fully develop their coaching and leadership skills. CORPORATE EXECUTIVE INITIATIVE (CEI) CEI was created to enlist and engage senior Pan Asian executives from global corporations to develop Asian business leaders through the executive communities of Fortune 1000 companies. CEI aims to build a world class business forum while enhancing opportunities and advancing the visibility and influence of Pan Asians. STANFORD GSB ADVANCED LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (ALP) This program is the first of its kind to address the apparent gap in effective executive training for high achieving Asian executives. The ALP was conceived and created by Ascend in cooperation with the Stanford University Graduate School of Business to accelerate the development of global business leadership skills of senior executives working in U.S. companies. NATIONAL CONVENTION & AWARDS Business leaders, senior executives, and professionals participate from a wide cross section of the Pan Asian community, industry and from across the country for 3 days of professional development. Inspirational, high-impact leaders, and rising stars in the business community as well as exemplary students are also recognized during the Leadership and Scholarship Luncheons and the Gala Dinner. LEAD SERIES Ascend s LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, Advancement, Development) Series is designed to help members develop and strengthen leadership skills to gain empowerment in advancing their professional goals. SCHOLARSHIPS Scholarships provided in partnership with our corporate partners and local chapters across the country are awarded to honor University students who demonstrate scholastic excellence, leadership, and commendable community service. 5

9 ABOUT AAPA Asian American Professional Association is a non profit community service organization dedicated to advancing Asian American professionals to become leaders in Corporate America.
