8 GS1 EPCglobal Standards GS1 EPCglobal Standards are: A set of integrated industry-driven standards Developed to meet user s requirements enabling: Identification of objects, Data capture, Sharing of information among partners throughout the supply chain. 8

EPC = Electronic product code A unique number that is used to identify an item in the supply chain Combines a silicon chip and an antenna Information received from EPC on tag can be associated to other data EPC is an instance of a product allocated a serial nr.
