1 The hottest mobile operating system from u.s. cellular A n droid Market 1 Find all kinds of great apps to enjoy on your Samsung Acclaim at the Android Market, a store owned and operated by Google that allows you to browse and download third-party phone applications. There are thousands of third-party apps, both free and paid, that will help you make the most of your Android phone. 3 2 Start by swiping the home screen to the right to reveal the left panel. Then just tap on the Market icon. You may also be asked to sign in with your Gmail account the first time you use the Android Market. A Gmail account is required for downloading applications from the market. 4 Once in the Android Market, you ll see a top banner that displays various featured apps you might want to check out. To shop for a specific application, tap the Apps button at the top left. 5 There are many different categories of apps here just scroll through the list to find one you d like to explore. Let s go into the Multimedia category and download Pandora Radio. Just tap the category... 1

2 6 and a list of apps will quickly load. Tap Top free to bring the free ones to top of the list. 7 There s Pandora, so just tap on it. You ll go to a description of the application along with user generated reviews and information for contacting the developer directly about any issues or questions you may have about this app. 8 To get this app on your phone, tap the Install button. 9 Before installing an app, you are shown all the different phone functions it will use. Tap the OK button to proceed with the download. 10 At the very top of the screen, the status bar shows a download icon. You can swipe down the status bar to see more detail of the download s progress. When the download is complete the status bar icon will show a check mark. 11 Now let s try out our new app. Press the Home button on the bottom left of the phone to return to the home screen. Then, tap the arrow button at the bottom to open the Apps Menu. 12 Scroll through the app icons to find the one you want. Pandora. You will now see the Pandora app in the list of all applications. 13 Some apps let you put a widget on a home panel that gives you immediate access to the app without having to launch it. Pandora is one of those, so let s install its widget. Press the Home button to go back to the home page. 2

3 14 Slide over to the right panel to place the Pandora widget there. 15 Press and hold on the screen at the spot where you want to place the widget and the Add to Home screen will appear. Tap Widgets to go to the Choose Widget screen. 16 Scroll down the alphabetical list to find the widget you want. Tap Pandora and its widget will automatically appear on the panel you came from. 17 There it is. Tap on the Pandora widget to sign in. 18 First you may see a warning about charges for data usage. Android phones require a data plan so this should not be a concern. Tap Continue. 19 Some widgets like Pandora require you to have an account. If you already have an account you can simply sign in. If not, you ll need to create a new Pandora account. 20 Assuming you have an account, let s sign in. Enter your account information for the app and then tap the Sign In button. 21 You ll enter Pandora and see your list of stations. Scroll down to find the one you want and tap it. 3

4 22 The station will start playing, and you can press the Home button on your phone to go back to the home page. 23 Slide to the right panel from the home screen. Your Pandora widget can now be controlled without having to launch the application. The widget allows live data to be accessed on the screen in real time. 24 If you decide you don t want a widget or application icon on a screen, it can be easily removed. To remove this widget, touch and hold the Pandora widget. 25 Drag the widget down to the Trash can. Release it there and the widget will disappear. 26 Removing a widget or app icon from your screen doesn t uninstall the widget or application, so you can put the widget back any time you d like. 27 To uninstall a widget or application, slide over to the left panel. Find the Android Market icon and tap to open it. 28 Now tap the Downloads button at the upper right. You ll then see your downloaded apps and any updates available for existing apps. 29 To uninstall Pandora, simply select the app on the screen. 4

5 30 You ll go to the description screen where you can tap the Uninstall button at the bottom to remove the app from your phone. 31 A screen will appear to confirm your decision to remove the app. Tap OK to start the uninstall process. 32 A screen will appear asking you why you decided to remove this application. Just tap on an answer and then tap the OK button. 33 When the uninstall process is complete, you ll return to the Downloads screen and you ll see that while Pandora no longer shows as installed, it will remain in your download history. 34 Now that you ve finished uninstalling the app, just press the Home button to go back to your home screen. 5
