3 The following content will be used for items 1-3 Read these stories. Then answer each question. A Great Pet Snakes make great pets. Some people think snakes are even better pets than dogs or cats! Here are some reasons why snakes make good pets. Snakes can live for a long time. Some snakes can live for over 20 years! They do not need large cages. Snakes also do not eat a lot. A snake can go two or three days without being fed. Unlike dogs or cats, snakes do not have fur. People are not allergic to snakes. It is the fur that people can be allergic to. Pet snakes can be peaceful and nice. They can also be very pretty. Snakes really do make great pets. A Pet Snake? Do you love snakes? A pet snake is not for everyone. Only those who really like snakes should have one for a pet. Snakes need a lot of care from their owners. Their cages need to be cleaned. Their water needs to be changed. They need to be fed often. It is important to know that snakes can bite. Even a pet snake can bite, so the owner has to be careful. Snakes also like to escape! They can be hard to find when they get out of their cages. Snakes are not easy to have as pets. They need a lot of care and can be unsafe. Only someone who loves snakes should have one for a pet. Page 3 of 24
