3 Adjusting the Deay Time 1. The deay time adjustment knob sets how ong the beam can be interrupted before triggering the aarm (see fig. 11): a. A short interrupt time (high sensitivity) is suitabe for catching fast moving intruders, but more susceptibe to fase aarms. b. A ong interrupt time (ow sensitivity) reduces fase aarms, but fast moving intruders may not trigger the sensor. 2. Adjust the knob to the site s situation. You may need to make adjustments ater after the wak-through test. Testing the Unit 1. Power up the transmitter and receiver. 2. If the yeow or red LED remains steady even when the beam is not interrupted, re-adjust the aignment. 3. Wak between the transmitter and receiver to interrupt the beams. Wak at various speeds, and adjust the deay time adjustment knob as needed. Therefore, do not mount near trees, bushes, or other eafy vegetation. Do not mount where the transmitter or receiver coud be spashed by water or mud. Do not mount where the unit coud be suddeny exposed to a bright ight, such as a foodight or a passing automobie s headight. 4 Typica Instaations The photoeectric beam ens can be adjusted horizontay ±90, and verticay ±5 (see fig. 2). This aows much fexibiity in terms of how the transmitter and receiver can be mounted. See fig. 3. Insta at a distance of 32 to 39 (80 to 100 cm) above the ground for most situations. See fig. 3. Running the Cabe Run a cabe from the aarm contro pane to the photobeam sensor. If burying the cabe is required, make sure to use eectrica conduit. Shieded cabe is strongy suggested. See Tabe 1 for maximum cabe ength. Remove the screw under the ens unit in order to detach the mounting pate. See fig If the sensor wiring comes from inside the wa Break a hoe in the mounting pate s rubber grommet, and pu the cabe through the grommet s hoe. Then run the cabe through the hoe near the top of the sensor unit so it comes out the front. Using two of the incuded mounting screws, attach the mounting pate to the wa. Then reattach the sensor unit to the mounting pate, connect the wires, and snap on the cover. See fig E-964-D390Q 900m 2,950 ft. 1,400m 4,590 ft. 2,200m 7,220 ft. 2,600m 8,530 ft. 3. If the sensor wiring is run aong the surface of the wa There are two pastic knockouts on the back of the sensor unit, one on top and one on bottom. Break out the appropriate knockout, and pu the wiring through the knockout. Then run the wiring through the hoe near the top of the sensor unit so it comes out the front. Using two of the incuded mounting screws, attach the mounting pate to the wa. Then reattach the sensor unit to the mounting pate, connect the wires, and snap on the cover. See fig. 6. Adjusting the Aignment The transmitter and receiver sensor units can be adjusted ±5º verticay and ±90º horizontay once the unit is mounted and power is connected (see fig. 2 on page 3). There are two ways to adjust aignment: 1. Laser adjustment (see fig. 1 on page 3): a. Remove the transmitter cover, then turn the aser on with the / switch (see fig. 1 on page 3). A red dot wi show where the photoeectric beams are aimed. b. Adjust the transmitter's sensor unit verticay and horizontay unti the red dot is centered on the receiver and both the receiver s LEDs turn off. See Tabe 3. It may be necessary to adjust the horizonta and vertica ange of the receiver's sensor unit as we. c. Repeat steps a and b for the receiver. d. Turn the asers off, and then repace the covers. WARNING: Do not ook directy at the asers. 2. Eyeba adjustment (see fig.10): a. Remove the transmitter cover, and ook into one of the aignment viewfinders (one of the four hoes ocated between the two enses) at a 45 ange. b. Adjust the horizonta ange of the ens verticay and horizontay unti the receiver is ceary seen in the viewfinder. c. Repeat steps a and b for the receiver. Fine Tuning the 1. aigned, Once the the sensor sensor is mounted can be fine and tuned using the votage output jack. a. Set the range of a vot-ohm meter (VOM) to 1~4VDC. b. Insert the red (+) probe into the (+) termina and the back (-) probe into the (-) termina. c. Measure the votage (see tabe 4). d. Adjust the horizonta ange by hand unti the VOM indicates the highest votage. e. Adjust the vertica ange by turning the vertica adjustment screw unti the VOM indicates the highest votage. NOTE - Do not interrupt the beam whie adjusting aignment. 9 Fig. 10: Horizonta and Vertica Sensor Adjustment Vertica Adjustment Horizonta Adjustment View Finders Tabe 3: LED Indicators Aarm (Red LED) d.
