3 The Albany background information The Albany, in the heart of Deptford, is a vibrant performing arts venue, with a strong focus on working with diverse, local communities. Our mission is to provide: An artistic and community resource where diversity and creativity flourish. A space where new talent is nurtured and exposed to ideas from across the world. High quality creative experiences relating to the communities we serve. A creative centre for learning within the community, contributing to the cultural, social and economic benefit of South East London. The organisation has grown considerably over the last three years with turnover doubling to 2.6million in 2015/16, and the staff team growing to 53 full and part time roles. The Albany is a registered charity and operates a social enterprise business model generating over 50% of its turnover from earned income. It is also grateful for the consistent support of the London Borough of Lewisham and the Arts Council England. During the last year over 180,000 people visited the Albany and used its facilities, including audiences of 40,000 at over 400 events. Not including its use of outdoor spaces and other sites, the Albany has four performance spaces, and its year-round programme encompasses music, theatre, outdoor arts and spoken word as well as an array of learning, participatory and community-based projects. Our other facilities include rehearsal and meeting rooms for hire, office space for 26 resident companies and a catering operation across three sites. The Albany café forms the centrepiece of the building during the daytime and supports regular weekly events like Meet Me at the Albany and Allsorts. The theatre bar and hospitality catering is provided in-house. The Albany also manages cafes, community and performance spaces at Deptford Lounge and Canada Water Culture Space on behalf of Lewisham and Southwark Councils, including the 150-seat studio theatre at Canada Water. The combined footfall across all three buildings is now in excess of a million a year.

4 Job description Job title: Weekend Premises Assistant Contract: Permanent, 16 hours per week Shift pattern: Saturday 07:30-17:30, Sunday 08:00-14:00 Salary: 8 per hour (from 1 st July) Ref: PA/0616 Closing date: Monday 4 th July 2016 Interviews: Friday 8 th July 2016 Start date: Saturday 16 th July 2016 The Albany is a performing arts centre based in the heart of Deptford with a strong focus on working with diverse, local communities. The Premises Assistant will provide a clean, well-presented, safe and secure environment for all staff and visitors to the Albany. The building is in constant use so high standards of presentation must be maintained at all times. The Premises Assistant will form part of the Operations Team, reporting to the Operations, Deputy Operations and Duty s. The Albany aims to be an equal opportunities employer and embraces diversity in all its areas of activity. Registered charity: Duties & Responsibilities Cleaning: offices, toilets, floors, public areas, meeting rooms. Room set ups: Arranging furniture and equipment for meetings and room hires. Security: Opening or closing the building as required, ensuring that fire routes are kept clear and exits secure, ensuring all lights are turned on. Gardening: Maintaining the patio, yard and garden areas, including weeding and watering. Maintenance: Changing light bulbs, ensuring all fixtures and fittings are well presented and in a good state of repair. Plumbing: Working with the Duty to deal with any leaks or blockages immediately.

5 Stock Control: Monitoring supplies and storage of cleaning materials in accordance with CoSHH regulations. Reporting when further supplies are required. Fire Warden: Act as a Fire Warden in the event of a building evacuation. Deliveries: Undertake porter duties for both the Albany and its resident organisations, transferring deliveries to storage areas or the appropriate office within the premises. Other duties will be allocated as required, including light maintenance work, window cleaning and deep cleaning. Pass on any important information to colleagues via the Premises notice board or the Duty. Report any incidents or problems to the Duty. Assist members of the public, staff and resident organisations. Be aware of and work within the Albany s policies including Health and Safety, Environmental Sustainability, and Customer Care. Have a knowledge of and commitment to the principles of Equal Opportunities and an understanding of the issues relating to cultural diversity within an organisation. Attend meetings and training as appropriate. Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the Operations team in order to ensure the high standard of care and cleanliness required at the Albany.
