Finding a Panel - Attachments

Applying the firmware to the panel All panels come blank from the manufacturer and must have the firmware sent to the panel to enable them. Firmware loads are different for every version of Axtrax NG you install. i.e. Axtrax NG 21.6 will have a different version firmware then Axtrax 21.7 Each software version adds new features or fixes, and is always loaded during the install process of the Axtrax software you installed.

Applying the firmware to the panel 1. Highlight the panel in the hierarchy tree. 2. Click the firmware update button in the table view. 3. When the dialog box opens, click the ok button to initiate the firmware update.

You will see a download count screen on the bottom left of the software. This countdown should be a smooth transition all the way down to the number three. You will see the number stall momentarily at the number three and count back down to zero. When the number is stalling, it is in the process of uploading the database to the panel.

Once the firmware has been sent to the panel, and the counter is at zero, the panel is now ready for programing and is fully functional at this time.

Creating a Time Zone And Automatic Door Operation

What is a Time Zone A Time Zone is a specified time frame that limits a specific type of action to a set number of hours/days A Time zone works in conjunction with a specific need. i.e. Setting a door unlock during a time frame. Setting a specific user in a group to only access the door during certain hours of the day.

How to Create a Time Zone 1. Click Timing in the hierarchy tree. 2. Click the Insert button + symbol under Table View. 3. You will get the Time Zone Properties Window. 4. You may name it a unique name here. 5. Left click and drag the specific days of the week for the time frame you want. Then right click and choose create.

Create an Auto Door Open 1) Create a Time Zone 2) Create an AC Link 3) Use the Attached AC Link setup. Source Type is an Output Create a new AC Link Choose the Time Zone Choose your output Event is an Automatic Operation

How to Create a Time Zone cont. You can only do one day of the week at a time. It is not possible to drag across all days of the week. If you find that it is difficult to get the exact hour or minute that you want you may do the following. Simply create a small time frame of a couple of minutes or hours. Once that is created, Right click on that time zone that was created for that day and choose properties This will allow you to manually type in the hours/minutes and not have to rely on the dragging the mouse.

How to Create a Time Zone Holidays Holiday schedules are used to bypass a time zone that is created in the event that you do not want the door to be Unlocked during business hours on days when the office is closed. When the office is closed for a Holiday and your doors are normally set to open automatically during business hours, If you have the holiday time created for those hours, the doors will remain locked during that day of the year so your doors are not left open by mistake. Any person that is also set under an access group with a linked time zone, will also have no access to the readers on that day.

Access Groups

What is an Access Group An Access Group allows the user to limit and or control specific access to certain readers/doors during a specific time frame. Cleaning crew that has access to the side door only 2 days a week during a certain time zone that was created. Employees that can only access certain doors during business hours. Restricting users from accessing high security sections. Ect.

How to Create An Access Group 1. Click Access Groups in the Hierarchy Tree. 2. Click the Insert button + symbol under Table View. 3. Give a description name to the access group you are creating.

How to Create an Access Group cont. The Access groups you created will appear in 2 places. Both in the Hierarchy tree, and the status window under description. To make changes to the access group you created, you must select the group you created in the hierarchy tree only. Selecting it in the description windows only lets you change the name you created. *see next slide

How to Create an Access Group cont. 1. Highlight the access group you want to edit in the hierarchy tree. 2. Press the + insert icon under table view 3. In the access group window, you may now do the following. 1. Select the time zone that you created (note: Always means 24/7 availability) 2. Move the readers you want to give access to for this group. 3. Only the readers you move in the selected box will be active for this group. 4. Press ok when done

How to Create an Access Group cont. Now that you have created you access groups, you can now assign this group to your specific users. This is done under the section where you create your users names. See quick guide, Adding card for reference (slide 9)

How to add Cards/Fobs and Users to Axtrax NG Software

There are 3 ways to input card information into Axtrax NG 1. Batch add cards to Axtrax and make all the cards active at this time. This option adds cards to the database, and assigns the cards user numbers. 2. Manually add cards to Axtrax on a per user instance (one at a time). This option allows the operator to create a user and add the card information in a one at a time instance. 3. Batch add cards and make them Available for a later time to make them Active. This option allows the operator to add all the cards to the system but they will not be Active until the operator assigns that Available card to a specific User.

Basic Card Layout 1. To add the card information into the Axtrax NG software's database, you will need to know both the 3 digit facility/site code and the 5 digit card number. 2. Once you locate these numbers on the card or fob you have, you will need to manually enter that information into the user section of the software Site/facility code Card number

1. To add cards, click on users in the hierarchy tree and make sure it is highlighted in blue. 2. Click the icon that looks like two people next to each other in the table view to open the properties window. How to Batch add cards to Axtrax Ng to make them Active and Available for immediate use.

How to Batch add cards to Axtrax Ng to make them Active and Available for immediate use 1. Once the properties window is open, you will need to edit 3 options. 1. Quantity. 2. Start from. 3. Facility code.

How to Batch add cards to Axtrax Ng to make them Active and Available for immediate use 1. In the quantity box, you can add a batch of cards if they are sequentially ordered. 2. The start from is the 5 digit card number 3. The facility code, is the 3 digit number that proceeds the 5 digit number on the card or fob Example: If the card # starts at 1000 and you have a quantity of 25, you can put that as your quantity number and the software knows to number the card 1000 to 1024

How to Batch add cards to Axtrax Ng to make them Active and Available for immediate use As you can see, the software will assign a user number in the last name field. This number relates to the card number order you started with. For example, if your card number started at 1000, then user#1 is card 1000, User#2 is 1001 etc. You can edit the card user number and put names if you wish, by double clicking the appropriate line.

1. Open the department users option in the hierarchy tree and click on general to highlight it. 2. Click the insert button to open the users properties window 3. Add a Name to this first screen Manually Add cards on a per user instance.

Manually Add cards on a per user instance. 1. Click the codes tab to bring up the properties window to add the card and or pin. 2. Click in the correct empty cell and type the information that is needed. 3. Click OK when done 4. You have now added the badge or pin to this user

Adding cards to the database to make them Available for later use 1. Under the users section in the hierarchy screen click and highlight cards. 2. Click the insert manual option to bring up the properties window

Adding cards to the database to make them Available for later use This section is similar to the first section when we added cards to make them both active and available. As you can see the bottom portion is greyed out, unlike the other section in the previous step. Select your quantity, card # and facility code and press ok

Batch add cards to be used at a later time. 1. Open the department users option in the hierarchy tree and click on general to highlight it. 2. Click the insert button to open the users properties window 3. Add a Name to this first screen 4. Continued on next slide

Batch add cards and make them Available for use at a later time 1. Click the codes tab to bring up the properties window. 2. Click the option to add from list to bring up the available cards. See next slide 3. Select the card # you wish to assign the user and move the card over to the right hand box 4. Click ok when done.

How to Save/Backup the Database

What is a Backup A Backup is all of your setting and user information. This needs to be done on a weekly or monthly basis either manually, or set up to do automatic backups via the NG software. Without a backup, if your panel goes out, or your PC/Server that has the software loaded crashes, you can easily reinstall the software and import the backup to an early date and not have to reprogram the entire database again.

What is a Backup Continued It is recommend that you save your database in two separate locations. First on the server pc, then on a secondary device like a network drive, or external storage. This is prevention, in case the main server pc crashes, if all the backups are done on that machine, then all of your backups are gone. If it is on another hard drive or flash drive, you still have a second copy.

How to Create A Backup/Save of the Database (SQL Database Verificaton) The first thing to do is check that the Microsoft SQL Database is set to the right configuration within the Windows PC to do the backup. 1. Open Windows Services. 1. Click on the start Button 2. Type in the start search or run box services.msc without the quotes. 3. Scroll down to SQL Server (Veritrax) and double click. 4. Click on the log on tab 5. Make sure LOCAL System Account is checked. 6. Click apply at the bottom, and follow the prompts to stop and start the services to take effect.

How to Create A Backup/Save of the Database (SQL Database Verificaton) 1. Find sql server veritrax 2. Click log on tab 3. Check local system account 4. Restart service for settings to take effect.

How to create a Backup/Save of the Database Axtrax NG Software 1. Click tools at the top of screen 2. Click database. The following screen appears. 3. In the drop down choose Backup Now 4. Browse for a location where you can find the backup 5. Click ok 6. The software will close to do the backup

How to create a Backup/Save of the Database Axtrax NG Software You have now completed a backup of your entire database. Make a second copy of this file to another hard drive or external device and keep these files updated constantly if you are always adding user information to the database. In the event of a system failure, this file will be able to be reloaded into the new software on another machine in the even that the pc server crashes, and once uploaded with the database, you will be up and running gin a matter of minutes.

How to Import a Backup to the Database

What is an import An Import would be done in an event that you have a new pc that has the Axtrax Software loaded. This will reload all settings and information back into the SQL Database that was installed on the PC

What is an Import Continued To do an Import is similar on how you would do a backup of the database. First, if this is a new install, check that the Microsoft SQL on the PC you are using is set correctly.

Database (SQL Database Verificaton) The first thing to do is check that the Microsoft SQL Database is set to the right configuration within the Windows PC.

Database (SQL Database Verificaton) 1. Find sql server veritrax 2. Click log on tab 3. Check local system account 4. Restart service for settings to take effect.

How to import a saved Database. 1. Click tools at the top of screen 2. Click database. The following screen appears. 3. In the drop down choose Import Configuration and events. 4. Click Ok 5. Browse for the location where your backup is. 6. Select that file and start the import process.

Now you can log into the Axtrax Software and do the import of the database you have saved in the previous steps. 1. click on tools and choose database 2. In the drop down box, choose Import Configuration and Events. 1. This setting will import everything from network settings, to users and groups 2. Browse for the backup file you have saved 3. Select the file you want to use. 4. Click open and confirm all prompts to do the backup. Note: When the backup is complete, you should see all of your information now like Networks, Users, ECT. If you see nothing, please see the above slides about the SQL database and make sure you have the correct settings otherwise, your Import will not work correctly.
