8 CEN Products European Standards Euro Norm (EN) Can be referenced in legislation Public review periods Publication of the European Standard (EN), After its adoption, each of the 31 National Standards Bodies publishes the new EN as an identical national standard and withdraws any national standards that conflict with it Reviewed at least once every five years. Technical Reports and Technical Specifications Can be upgraded to full EN Workshop agreements (CWA)

10 CEN & IOT working on the Edge CEN TC 225 Automatic identification and Datacapture The new WG 6 IOT will be active from April Preparation for coming IOT Mandate Guiding review of existing standards and NWIP to meet IOT needs Standards Norway and BSI(UK) have a lead position in the creation of this new WG 6 IOT

12 CEN TC 225 WG 6 IOT To act as a focal point for IOT issues within CEN/TC 225 To advise CEN TC 225 on IOT issues in order to ensure a consistent and proactive approach to the IOT by all its WGs. To assist CEN/TC 225 to act as an agent of change within CEN by facilitating IOT knowledge transfer between CEN and CENELEC TCs To liaise with other SDOs on behalf of CEN on IOT issues. To develop TR/TS/ENs as appropriate to assist in achieving the above objectives.

17 How to integrate standardization into research and innovation projects and programmes Take into account existing standards when proposing activities and drafting new programmes, avoiding both unnecessary duplication of effort and the development of conflicting standards. Consider the potential of standards and standardization as possible additional selection criteria. Include standardization in work packages or as a separate support measure. Consider standardization and standards as a means to disseminate the results of research and innovation projects, including intellectual property rights, towards marketable product and process innovation activities. Use standards and consider their possible economic impacts as output and performance indicators when evaluating the outcome of research and innovation projects and programmes.
