The challenge: One of the most salient challenges of modern committed romantic partnership is building a relationship that works equally well for both partners. A place to start: Interpersonal relationships are very complex. When it comes to figuring out solutions to our own relationship struggles, it often can be very difficult to discern the forest from the trees. What is needed is a simple, practical model that can provide a basic starting point for pretty much anyone, in any situation. A basic model for all relationships: One very effective way to conceptualize the complicated dance of interpersonal relationship is to view the relationship as a separate, living entity. Add to this idea, the idea that all living entities require support and nurturing to live, grow, and, especially to thrive and you have the basis for a simple model and a place to start. 3 When two people make their love for one another their top priority and commit to do the work of self-development in support of their precious relationship, a whole new world opens up to them. The work of self-development is simply necessary to support the open, honest, and fully transparent communication that is required for conscious, mutually empowered love to develop. I call the work of self-development in support romantic partnership: The Inner Work of Love. Faithfully doing the work of self-development, has allowed me to build the relationship of my dreams. Doing the work of self-development has allowed me to live into my highest most magnificent self - the man my wife saw through the eyes of her soul and fell in love with. Our souls are literally becoming more deeply connected with each passing day. If this is the kind of love you are seeking, then read on! Some basic steps to take: Fully commit to your partnership Commit to do the work of self-development Become crystal clear on what you want from your partnership Become crystal clear on what you bring to your partnership and cultivate self-love Commit to open, honest, fully transparent, communication Commit to striving to be fully present with your partner Fully commit to your partnership Full commitment = full success At the moment of commitment, the universe conspires to assist you. 4 Unwavering commitment serves to unify our conscious thus providing the clarity focus, and energetic forces necessary to stay the course. Commit to do the work of self- development All relationships act as mirrors. When we are triggered by something our partner says or does, most of the time, our reaction is much more about us than them or their speech and / or actions. The simple truth: If you want to build the mutually empowering, deeply satisfying, thrilling relationship of your dreams, take full responsibility for your life, happiness and wellbeing, AND commit to do the work of self-development necessary to keep you emotionally and psychologically fit. Become crystal clear on what you want from your partnership I invite you to journal about what you really want from your romantic partnership. 5 Become crystal clear on what you bring to your partnership and cultivate self- love. In order to create a dynamic, loving, committed romantic partnership you must be completely willing to fully show up as the person you are. This is why I put so much emphasis on self-acceptance and the piece de resistanceself-love. There is nothing more attractive than a self-aware, self-confident person that is comfortable with them selves and able to fully show up as the beautiful human being that they are. This is truly the honey that attracts the bees. It is important to always stand in your value as a human being while fully supporting your partner to do the same. Commit to open, honest, fully transparent communication I encourage you to be open, honest, and fully transparent in all of your communications with your partner, or if you are dating, your potential long-term partner.
