2 KJ TAIT EXCELLENCE IN ENGINEERING :: 3 WHO WE ARE: PROFILE KJ Tait Engineers provides professional consultancy for the design and management of engineering services for buildings and associated infrastructure throughout the UK. We are a professional practice of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineers with offices in Aberdeen, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London. Formed in 1978, the practice remains wholly owned by the Directors and has grown organically to its present strength. In addition to the traditional core MEP engineering services disciplines, the company embodies in-house expertise in areas including low carbon and low energy design renewable energy generation and application, BREEAM, sustainability and facilities management. The philosophy of KJ Tait Engineers is to provide the best possible level of professional service on every project and our design approach is to meet the demands of clients by engineering simple building solutions that minimise complexity. Our portfolio contains a variety of projects in all sectors throughout the United Kingdom. Projects of all scales and sizes are undertaken, including new buildings, refurbishment, term contracts and minor works.

3 KJ TAIT EXCELLENCE IN ENGINEERING :: 5 WHAT WE DO: MEP ENGINEERING DESIGN KJ Tait Engineers has a long and successful track record of innovative quality design of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) engineering services solutions for buildings and infrastructure. Our philosophy is to fully and clearly understand the requirements of our clients, and to reflect this in appropriate design solutions. KJ Tait Engineers takes responsibility for the all our engineers keep abreast of rapidly design and co-ordination of the engineering evolving technology and techniques. Our expertise relates to engineering services facilities management. We employ qualified engineering facilities managers who are supported by our specialist design engineers and our energy and environmental engineers. We are typically engaged to provide specialist support to building occupiers with limited inhouse engineering staff, or to managing agents who provide outsourced facilities and estate management services. n Resilience Studies of Critical Plant and Critical Systems n Statutory Compliance Audits n Energy Management Services Our range of services includes: n Acquisition and Condition Surveys n Air Conditioning Inspection Reports Additionally, KJ Tait Engineers operates a 24/7 helpdesk facility which responds to all reactive n Building EPC and DEC Certification calls at properties managed by the n Contractor Performance Monitoring n FM Contract Procurement n Future Planning; typically 10 year planned replacement costing department. The main function of the helpdesk is to provide a central point of contact for building managers to direct all queries and issues relating to their property. n Minor Works Design and Project The helpdesk identifies the requirements of Management n Regulation Compliance Service each call logged and allocates appropriate resources to action any task raised. 5 KJ TAIT EXCELLENCE IN ENGINEERING :: 9 WHAT WE DO: ENERGY KJ Tait Engineers provides dedicated Energy and Environmental Consultancy Services. Our Energy and Environmental Engineers are fully integrated into the practice to ensure they can provide a comprehensive service which includes direct client design and facilities engineering commissions. We constantly keep abreast of new technology and have experience in the implementation of the full range of renewable energy services. Our specialist support on design commissions enables low energy to be embedded in our design philosophy which includes providing design support to ensure compliance with regulations and preparation of Low and Zero Carbon Technology (LZCT) reports. The role of our Energy and Environmental Engineers also includes an ongoing involvement in monitoring energy consumption of occupied buildings. This service includes advising tenants, landlords and managing agents on energy initiatives, benchmarking of energy consumption and future investment planning. Our Energy Monitoring System (EMS) allows us to continuously monitor energy consumption via the use of smart meters. This system allows us to monitor, investigate and manage areas of abnormally high consumption.

It sets the standards for best practice in sustainable development and a BREEAM-rated building will bring a variety of environmental, economic and social benefits. Our BREEAM Assessors provide specialist advice on building projects from inception and closely monitor progress throughout the design stage to post construction. KJ Tait Engineers provides licensed Accredited Professional BREEAM Assessors for the following schemes: n Bespoke/Other Buildings n Courts n EcoHomes n Education: Schools, Further Education, Higher Education n Healthcare n Industrial n Multi-residential n New Construction n Offices n Prisons n Retail KJ Tait Engineers also provides BREEAM In-use audit assessments. BREEAM In-use is a new scheme to help owners and building managers of existing buildings reduce running costs, improve environmental performance and, by making buildings more marketable, to increase their asset value. This assessment can also assist clients with Carbon Reduction Commitment compliance.
