General Information When IP components, which are connected to the corporate network, are installed in public areas, there is a risk of access to the Intranet via sabotage to the external network cable. In order to effectively prevent this, the LAN Secure Adapter is looped in the protected area of the network cable. In case of sabotage, it switches off the power as well as all connections of the network cable to the end device and also cuts the door opener cable if desired Features Assembly group for switch cabinet mounting. Reset button for resetting the shutoff and for manual disconnection in standard operation (perform a hardware reset of the end device). 2-pole switching output: 24VDC and ground are switched off in case of sabotage. The switched 24VDC can be used to release a door opener relais. In case of sabotage, the opening of the door is therefore prevented. The switched ground can be used as a criterion for transferring the message of sabotage to a building management system. 3. Operational Description The LAN Secure Adapter monitors two loops of current (channels) separately. Sabotage is registered if one of the loops is manipulated. The integrated micro controller differentiates between two modes of operation when testing the loops of current. The first mode monitors if the sabotage switch is closed (0 ohm). If the sabotage switch is open, the LAN Secure Adapter cuts the connection between the SIP intercom and the corporate network. The second mode measures the resistance of the loop (determination of the reference value for comparison). The network connection is shut down if the change of the resistance is more than 1.5 kilo ohm. This operational mode prevents the deactivation of the sabotage line via short circuit and requires the sabotage contact to have a distant resistance of for example 10 kilo ohm _V1.0_manual.doc Seite 3 von 8

5 3.4. Sabotage Logic After connecting the power supply or after a power outage, the device checks the sabotage loops and switches to normal operation mode within 500ms by error-free condition. Therefore the IP end device is automatically switched on after a power outage. The reset button is used to reset after a sabotage activation and triggers simultaneously a learning process in which the resistivity is measured and saved in the device. By pressing the reset button during normal operation, all interfaces are disconnected as long as the button remains pressed. By releasing the button, all interfaces are reconnected. Therefore, a hardware reset of the end device is possible. This learning process is also taking place after a power-on reset. If the sabotage line is disconnected after power-on, a sabotage detection takes place and the ports remain disconnected. If the sabotage line is shortly closed after power-on and a loop resistor is installed with for example 10 kohm at the sabotage switch, no sabotage detection follows.
