5 Q2 SALES TAX HIGHLIGHTS State Level Standard Rate Change in Q2 2014: No states changed their sales/use tax rates this quarter. State Level Rate (state designated portion of the sales tax rate): Indiana, Mississippi, Jersey, Rhode Island, and Tennessee tied for the highest state sales tax rate at 7.0%. The second highest state sales tax rate was Minnesota at 6.875%. The third highest state sales tax rate was Nevada at 6.85%. The average state sales tax rate was 5.457% in Q2 14. County Level Rate (county designated portion of the sales tax rate): The highest county sales tax rate was Wrangell, AK at 7.0%. The next highest rate was Petersburg, AK and Sitka, AK at 6.0%. 9 Q2 VAT Highlights Country Level Rate Additions in Q In anticipation of Malaysia implementing a new Goods and Services Tax scheme, officially signed into law in April 2014, the authority of Malaysia GST was added in INTL Content May 2014 Update #1, including all rates, catch-all rules, and cross-border logic effective 4/1/2015. China expanded VAT treatment to the telecommunications sector in accordance with Cai Shui 43 [2014], 6/1/2014. The applicable rates are 11% for basic telecommunications services and 6% for value-added telecommunications services. State Level Rates Changes in Q The state of Andhra Pradesh was divided into two states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This officially took effect on 2 June The existent VAT law will apply to both states until the new government makes modifications to the law. The VAT standard rate is 14.5%, reduced rates are 5% and 1%.
