2 Welcome to Malmö, Sweden and World Towns Leadership Summit 1-2 June, 2017 W e look forward to continuing the international dialogue initiated in Edinburgh, June 2016, which resulted in a framework of beliefs and principles for inclusive city building. Please join us to advance these ideas in Malmö, Sweden, to refine the values and priorities for the urban place management industry. OUR GOAL FOR THE 2017 SUMMIT is quite specific: to establish a global action plan to enable the work of all participating organizations. We seek to affirm, or amend as needed, the guiding principles established in Edinburgh and build consensus on policy directions necessary to sustain healthy commercial districts. The summit will examine the UN Habitat III New Urban Agenda and recent issues research to inform the place management action plan. While the business community and property owners remain the primary stakeholder audiences for our member organizations, we must to consider the long term needs of residents, visitors, and workers, all of whom fuel the growth and success of every city center, commercial district, corridor, and neighborhood. THE SECOND ANNUAL SUMMIT EVENT IN Malmö will not be a traditional conference with speakers presenting to an audience. Instead, the audience will be comprised of expert practitioners working together to form consensus on actions all city center organizations should consider moving forward. WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU! The summit will include several inspiring master talks with the majority of the agenda comprised of issue discussion groups. At the close of the summit, in-depth study visits of Malmö and Copenhagen will be available. Attendees participating in both city visits will better understand the regional impact of the Oresund Region Link between these two great cities which opened in July Since its opening, more than 250 million people have travelled over this bridge.

3 Malmö, Sweden s third largest city, with 300,000 inhabitants representing 174 nations, is located in the centre of the Öresund Region and Skåne. Malmo Live, one of the newest projects of the city, recieved The Urban Prize 2016 for creating new connections in the urban environment and between people. 6 TOP ATTRACTIONS IN COPENHAGEN Copenhagen Street Food on Papirøen (Paper Island) in Copenhagen is the city s first and only genuine street food market. Carlsberg City District, named after Carlsberg s beer, has developed to a new district of shops, culture, business area. Nyhavn was originally a busy commercial port where ships from all over the world would dock. The area was packed with sailors, ladies of pleasure, pubs and alehouses. Today the beautiful old houses have been renovated and classy restaurants dominate the old port. Nyhavn is filled with people enjoying the relaxed atmosphere by the canal, jazz music and great food. Freetown Christiania is a green and car-free neighbourhood in Copenhagen, best known for its autonomous inhabitants different way of life. It was established in 1971 by a group of hippies who occupied some abandoned military barracks on the site and developed their own set of society rules, completely independent of the Danish government. THE GREATER COPENHAGEN AND SKÅNE COMMITTEE is a political collaboration connecting Southern Sweden and Eastern Denmark. The goal is to eliminate the cross-borderbarriers that prevent economic growth and business development in the region trying to connect people across countries and cultures. The European Spallation Source (ESS) and MAX IV: Cross Border Science and Society is one of our projects, focusing on identifying and overcoming the current barriers, particularly concerning citizens from outside the European Economic Area. Travel from Copenhagen Airport to Malmö the Öresundståg is the quick and easy way to travel between Copenhagen Airport and Malmö. With at least three trains departing during every hour, you will reach Malmö Triangeln in just 20 minutes. The train makes one stop at Hyllie before it reaches Triangeln, choose exit Johanneskyrkan. From the station to the Hotel it s only two minutes walk. If you are travelling by train in Malmö you have to buy your ticket before boarding since tickets are not for sale on board. There are ticket machines at every train station. The mission of the organisation is to continue to develop the city centre to further improve its attractiveness, to benefit stake- holders and visitors alike. The work spans from pure marketing campaigns and events to redevelopment projects to enhance the physical environment.
