1 YOUR GUIDE TO PLTC June 2015 Pinner Lawn Tennis Club Welcome to Pinner Lawn Tennis Club At Pinner Lawn Tennis Club, our aim is to provide good tennis in a friendly and inviting atmosphere. We welcome players of all ages and abilities. The club is widely recognised as one of the best tennis clubs in the area, for its lovely setting and great social tennis, and also for the strength of our team tennis and the diversity of the play on offer. The club has been awarded the Lawn Tennis Association s (LTA) Tennis ClubMark, and is recognised by the LTA as an accredited Performance Centre. Since it was founded over 100 years ago, Pinner Lawn Tennis Club has enjoyed success in team and social tennis. The success and longevity of the club is down to the enthusiasm and friendliness of its members. We currently have some 200 members from Pinner, Stanmore, Northwood, Eastcote and Harrow, in all categories from Full to Mini. While we are proud of the results of our adult and junior teams in many competitions, we believe that the juniors and minis are the key to the future of the club and so we do our best to encourage their interest and nurture their talent. Turn up and play whenever a court is free Take part in regular social tennis sessions (see times, below) Enter a variety of fun tournaments Play team tennis in Middlesex Leagues Finals Day Party Depending on your membership you can play whenever a court is free. Social Tennis Social tennis sessions are very popular. No booking required, simply turn up to a session appropriate to your standard and join in a game of doubles. Well-balanced fours are selected by a board system or by a committee member - you play one set, then rotate with others who are waiting. Games move quickly and are never dull! On Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evenings, the bar is open. Times are as follows: Sunday 10:00 12:00 : Beginners and Improvers 14:00 16:00 : Full adult playing members and Premier Juniors Wednesday 9:45 12:00 19:00 22:00 Watching a Match : Improvers and Full : Full adult playing members and Premier Juniors Wimbledon Ticket Draw Every year Pinner Lawn Tennis Club is allocated about 35 pairs of tickets for Wimbledon, including men s and ladies finals. All members can enter for an open ballot, organised by the Committee to determine who has won the right to purchase tickets. Enjoy a Drink after Social

These include: Ladies Doubles Winner Men s singles and doubles, ladies singles and doubles, and mixed doubles Internal club tournament from April to July Pinner Lawn Tennis Club Open in September Fun tournaments and junior events check the noticeboard page on PLTC website for details. Team Tennis Pinner Lawn Tennis Club are very active in team tennis, and take part in the following competitions: Mixed Vets Doubles Winner Men s, Ladies and Mixed Middlesex Cup summer competitions Middlesex Tennis summer and winter Leagues Middlesex Tennis Summer Leagues Men s 1st team are in Premier Division, 2nd in Division 1, 3rd in Division 2, 4th in Division 3 and 5th in Division 4. Ladies 1st team are in West Intermediate Division, 2nd &3rd in division 4 and 4th in division 6 Junior Boys Doubles Winner

4 Enjoy improving your game Coaching for all ages All levels Group lessons One to one lessons Qualified professional coaches Adult Group Coaching Sessions Tennis Lessons Tennis lessons from a qualified coach can help you get more enjoyment out of your tennis. Perhaps you d just like to learn the basics or maybe there s a certain part of your game that you d like to work on either way, there s nothing quite like the satisfaction of mastering a skill and knowing that you are making progress. Similarly, the earlier a child gets proper coaching, the more enjoyment they will get from the game. Quite a lot of the work coaches do with adults is correcting bad tennis habits, so if your child learns correct techniques and skills early on, they will be able to achieve much more with their tennis in later life. Junior Squad Lessons Tennis coaching at PLTC, like everything else at the club, is intended to be enjoyable. Lessons are usually an hour long and cover techniques, positioning, tactics, game practice and a laugh or two along the way. Lessons can be in a group or on a one-to-one basis. We have several highly qualified coaches associated with the club, who coach players of all skills and all ages. If you d like a free taster session with one of our coaches before you commit to lessons, please contact our head coach, Nigel Buckman. Adult Group Coaching Monday 11am 12pm For all players from improver level to team players. Individual Lessons Tuesday 1.30pm 3pm For good social players and team players. Tuesday 8.30pm 9.30pm (under floodlights in winter) For all players from improver level to team players. Friday 9am 10am For beginners to social players. Saturday 2pm 3pm For beginners to improvers. The cost for all adult group coaching is 10 per head Junior Night on Friday

5 LTA accredited Mini Tennis Centre Mini Tennis court 2 courts for juniors Individual lessons Group lessons School holiday camps Junior Easter Camp Junior Tennis Nigel Buckman Head Coach Master Professional Coach, level 5 Middlesex Coach of the year 2012/2013 Pinner Lawn Tennis Club is an LTA accredited Mini Tennis Centre, so it s an ideal place for children to begin playing tennis. We have a mini tennis court for little ones to start on, and have two courts for junior usage. We believe that kids are more likely to enjoy their tennis, and therefore stick with it and improve, if the atmosphere at the club is welcoming and fun for them. To this end we run a special kids social tennis session after school on Friday afternoons, where they can play tennis from 5pm until 7ish. Hot dogs from the BBQ and coke and crisps from the bar make the session even more appealing to our younger players! Individual and group lessons for kids are available throughout the year. Pierre Clad Coach Master Professional Coach, level 4 Pinner Lawn Tennis Club also runs tennis camps for kids during the Easter, Summer and Autumn school holidays. This is a fun way to introduce your child to tennis. Pinner Lawn Tennis Club runs special 5 day junior tennis camps during the Easter, Summer, and Autumn School holidays. The camps are for kids aged 5 15 years and include tennis, cricket, football, mini-tournaments, crazy golf and indoor entertainment activities. All standards are welcome and there will be 1.5 hours of tennis every day, which is a fantastic way of improving techniques and footwork.
