1 416 Morrill Hall of Agriculture Hall Michigan State University Title: How to Download Lync from ANR SharePoint Site Apple/Mac Document No Revision Date - 10/2013 Revision No. - 1 Purpose The procedures below provide outlined steps for downloading Lync 2010 from the ANR SharePoint site for use on an Apple/Mac computer. 2 You will be going to the ANR SharePoint site to obtain the Lync 2010 software file. Installing Lync 2010 from SharePoint 1. Click on the link below to open SharePoint: Login to SharePoint using your ANR account credentials. 2. Once logged in to SharePoint you will see a list of files available for download. Find the file LyncMac

3 3. Click on the dropdown menu arrow to the right of the file name. After clicking on the dropdown menu: Hover you mouse over Send To Then click on Download a Copy 4. Once the LyncMac 2011 file has downloaded, click to open the download. 3

4 5. After you have opened the downloaded file a Microsoft Lync Installer window will open. Double click on Lync Installer. 6. You may encounter the following. Please follow along to continue the installation. If after you double clicked on Lync Installer, you may see the following window display, click OK to close this window. 4

5 7. After clicking OK above, now right click on the Lync Installer and choose Open from the dropdown menu. 8. After choosing Open you will see the following window. Click Open to continue. 5

6 9. A Microsoft Lync for Mac Installer window will open; click Continue to start the installation. 10. When you see the window below, click Install. 6

7 11. After the install has finished, click the Close button. 12. The Lync 2011 for Mac icon will appear in the Dock. Click on the Lync icon to open it. 7

8 13. Click Accept on the License Agreement page. 8

9 14. A Lync-Services Sign In window will open. Do the following: To the right of Address: type in your ANR address To the right of User ID: type in your ANR username To the right of Password: type in your ANR password Check the box next to Remember my password Click the Advanced button, when you have all the text boxes filled 9

10 15. In the Connection Settings window that opens: Click on the radio button next to Manual configuration Type sip.anr.msu.edu:443 in the Internal server name textbox Type sip.colleg .msu.edu:443 in the External server name textbox Click OK 10

11 16. Now click on the Sign In button. 17. An Allow Access window will appear. In this window you will: Click the Always Allow button 11

12 18. Lync 2010 has been now installed. To start using Lync, you must first wait until the address book has synchronized. This may take up to 5 minutes. 12

13 19. You will know that your address book has synchronized when you can type the last name of someone in the contact search box and his or her name appears below the search box. Type Name in Contact Search Box Name Appears Below Search Box Note: You can only add and then contact someone using Lync that has address. 13

To add contacts you have searched for to your contact list, do the following: Click on the Plus Button dropdown menu to the right of the contacts name In the dropdown menu, click on a group you created previously OR In the dropdown menu, click on Add to New Group Click on Plus Button Here Click on Previously Created Group Here OR Click on Add to New Group 14

15 21. If creating a new group, type a name for the new group and hit enter on your keyboard. You have now successfully added a contact to your Lync contact list and can begin using Lync to connect with that person and others you have added to your contact list.
