Waffen SS Infantry Availability: July 1934 (Maximum 1 Per Turn) Katzchen [Advanced Mechanized Infantry] The Katchen represents advanced mechanized infantry formations of the German Army. Panther II Availability: When Germany develops Heavy Armor and produces at least 3 Tiger IEs or other Advanced Armor. E-100 [Super Heavy Armor] The E-100 was a super-heavy, 140-ton tank with a 128mm main armament and a 75mm coaxial gun. Even with this load, the E-100 9
could achieve speeds of 25mph with a road range of 120 miles. E Availability: When Germany develops Heavy Armor and produces at at least six Advanced Armor Target Selection: 1-4 Armor-class units Super Heavy: The E-100 cannot be the subject of Target Selection. It s stealthy design has lead some to speculate it would have given the US only eight minutes warning on approach. Ho-xviii 8 (1) Availability: When Germany develops both Jet Fighter technology and long-range aircraft technology. Flying Wing: The interception value of all aircraft opposing the HO- XVII is reduced by 2 so long as it (and other Friendly flying wings) are the only units in combat. 4.0 Japanese Units SNLF Infantry [Special Marine Unit] The SNLF (Special Naval Landing Force) were elite Japanese Marine units with a fearsome reputation. Per Global War-2 nd edition rules, Japan is allowed to build two SNLF per turn. 11
SNLF Availability: Two SNLF per turn may be built starting in January Marines: The SNLF are Marine Units. Ho-Ki [Advanced Mechanized Infantry] The Ho-ki represents an advanced mechanized infantry unit. The Type 1 Ho-Ki was a tracked vehicle that entered service in 1944 as an artillery tractor and personnel transport. The total number produced was low due to its late entry in the war. Ho-Ki Availability: After Japan develops Advanced Mechanized Infantry Ho-Ki (SPAA) [Self-Propelled Anti-Aircraft] The Ho-Ki SPAA represents self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery. This unit represents a Ho-ki chassis equipped with an anti-aircraft gun. Ho-Ki 3@3 3@
Availability: July 1942 Ha-To Self-propelled advanced artillery The Type 4 Ha-To SP Artillery was a tracked self-propelled artillery gun developed by the Japanese army. The Ha-To carried a 300mm mortar firing a 374lb shell up to 1.9 miles. The unit represents self-propelled Advanced Artillery. Ha-To Availability: When Japan develops Advanced Artillery. Chi-To Tank [Medium Armor] The Chi-To was a Japanese medium tank design. The 30-ton vehicle had a 75mm main gun and two light machine guns. Japanese material shortages in the war prevented this tank from entering full production. Japan is one of the nations in the game that begins with expensive armor (8IPP). This cost reflects the overall poverty in Japanese armor quality both in terms of armor, gun size and reliability. The Chi-To represents overall improvement in Japanese armor that reduces the cost to the same as other nations. Chi-To
Availability: After Japan develops Heavy Armor. Blitz: The Chi-To may blitz. O1 Tank [Super Heavy Armor] The O1 was a heavy Japanese tank prototype. A 100-ton and a 120 ton version were designed. The massive tank would have had a crew of 11 and a top speed of only 15 mph (25kts). The tank was designed in a number of configurations featuring 10cm or105mm main guns and secondary 37mm or 47mm anti-tank turrets and up to three 7.7mm machine guns. One version of the tank also featured two light rocket artillery canisters. A heavy tank of this caliber was initial designed to counter Soviet forces which proved superior in early war border conflicts in Manchuria. O Availability: After Japan develops Heavy Armor Target Selection: 1-2 Armor-Class Units. Super-Heavy: The O-1 cannot be the subject of target selection. Shinden jet fighter The Kyushu J7W Shinden was a Japanese advanced interceptor with a rear pusher propeller. The Shinden was a land-based interceptor intended to counter the American 14
B-29s which were causing significant damage to Japanese infrastructure. The Shinden had four 30mm cannons. The aircraft had excellent maneuverability but a range of only 530 miles. While only two prototypes were completed, the Japanese estimated that over a thousand could be produced between April 1946 and March 1947 to defend the home island. Shinden 7 (6) 7(6) 2 11 Availability: January 1946 (if you are not using variable game end rules, make the Shinden available when Japan has Stage 3 Jet Aircraft. Interceptor: The Shinden can only cause casualties to aircraft. Land-Based: The Shinden cannot be placed on an Aircraft Carrier. Kawasaki Ki-91 Bomber [Long Range Strategic Bomber] The Ki-91 was a 4-engine long range bomber designed by the Japanese during World War II. The project was cancelled before reaching the prototype stage. The proposed bomber had a range of 5,592 miles. It would have carried eight 20mm cannons for selfdefense and about 8,000lbs of bombs. Ki-91 Strategic bombing 3(1)
