6 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Customer must have a San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E ) commercial electric account Carefully read the specifications and definitions to determine whether you are installing a qualifying product(s) All equipment must be installed and operational before a rebate application is submitted All new lighting fixture(s), retrofit kits, and components must carry the appropriate, designated Underwriters Laboratory (UL) or Intertek s Electrical Testing Labs (ETL) Listed Mark, and must be Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) compliant In all cases, the wattage of the replacement lighting equipment must be less than the wattage of the existing lighting equipment All installations must be new replacements or retrofits and are based on a one-for-one replacement; except where otherwise noted It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the equipment to be installed adheres to all state, local and national building codes and ordinances, as well as the manufacturer s requirements Customers are responsible for determining whether retrofit will maintain adequate light levels All fixtures must be hardwired Rebates are paid on lowest wattage installed Include ballast and lamp model number on invoice when ballast and lamp specification requirements are listed in terms and conditions Must submit the manufacturer s specification sheet to each application documenting the characteristics of lamps, ballasts, and fixtures CFL is now an allowable baseline equipment type for LED surface, pendant, track, and recessed downlights Adapters that convert LED lamp sockets from one base type to another are not allowed (e.g. GU24 pin base to E26 screw base) Several products offered through the Energy Efficiency Business Rebates program are provided at no cost or at a discount for qualified customers through SDG&E s Business Energy Solutions program. 7 DEFINITIONS Building Space** Is 1) A complete single story building 2) A complete floor of a multifloor building 3) The entire space in a building of a single tenant under a single lease or 4) All of the common, not leasable space in single building. Candelabra Base A smaller screw-in base for light bulbs with a 12 millimeter diameter, referred also as an E12 base. Edison Base The most common screw-in base for light bulbs with a 26 millimeter diameter, referred also as an E26 (or medium) base. Enclosed Space** Space that is substantially surrounded by solid surfaces, including walls, ceilings or roofs, doors, fenestration areas, and floors or ground. ETL Listed Mark A product bearing the ETL Listed Mark has been tested to be in compliance with applicable electric, gas and other safety standards. For more information, visit Garage A parking garage is a covered building or structure for the purpose of parking vehicles, which consists of at least a roof over the parking area enclosed with walls on all sides. Parking garages may have fences, rails, partial walls (pony wall), or other barriers in place of one or more walls. The structure has an entrance(s) and exit(s). If the roof of the parking structure is also used for parking, the section without an overhead roof is considered a parking lot instead of a parking garage. Hardscape Area** Hardscape Area of a site shall include parking lot(s), roadway(s), driveway(s), sidewalk(s), walkway(s), bikeway(s), plaza(s), and other improved area(s) that are illuminated. Incandescent Incandescent includes quartz Tungsten Halogen Lamps. Luminaire** Complete lighting unit consisting of lamp(s) and the parts that distribute the light, position and protect the lamp(s), and connect the lamp(s) to the power supply. NEMA Premium Ballasts The most efficient fluorescent fixed-output and dimmable electronics for T8 ballasts recognized by the National Electronic Manufacturers Association (NEMA).
