Will it be possible to gather both teachers and students e.g. 2-3 students and 2-3 teachers from each participating institution? Such an IP could, with advantage, be linked with other network groups on, for instance, gymnastics or swimming.
It was agreed to investigate the opportunities for an IP further. It would be fruitful if, Kaunas could take the lead in such an endeavor. Deadline for the application is March 1 st SDU will, as network manager, support the compilation of the application. Thanks to the group members for being efficient and innovative. Points 2, 3 and 4 were discussed in the biomechanical workshop group only. Agenda for the Nordplus-Idrott network meeting 18 November Messages 2. Miscellaneous Minutes regarding the network meeting 18 November Messages AM: Master in Physical activity and Health is up and running in Sogndal. More than 80 applicants. The department will be relocated in new buildings in MJ: Malmö Högskola moved to a new campus 5 years ago and are already lacking space. Investors in Malmö are interested in building a large sports centre in the centre of Malmö. Focus on female sports research and they re interested in having us there as well. Final decision within a year. SL: GIH, Stockholm next year added 4,000 sq.m. and we ve gone through an organizational restructure we have three profiles now Culture & Learning, Physical Activity & Health, Performance & Training. Also in midst of a generation shift in the administrational and research area. Also more diversity within the student group, which will also affect the educational programs. The government is dedicated to support the schools and research in the field. VT: We just moved into our new facilities in Gothenburg, together with the Department of Food & Nutrition Sports, F & N. It s placed right in the centre of the city. JF: We re happy being able to take part in the bachelor degree in outdoor living. We ll try to join the Biomechanical focus group. We have both German and Dutch people at the institute working with biomechanics. MR: In Jyväskylä we have got increased funding to support the intake of additional students a year compared to earlier 55 students. Our buildings are being renovated - we will be moving back next fall. Planning starting to integrate physical education & health education in the education due to the public schools increasing focus on these. NC: We re having a course each November - coaching, biomechanics etc. an idea for your students to participate Minna will send info. BHO: All facilities are being renovated. Evaluating all programs, and many course plans will be altered to meet the changes. Coach education program in cooperation with the swimming federation and also the golf federation. DS: This year new structure at the Academy. Before we had 5 departments, and now we have only 2. We re focusing on Health promotion and Physical Education, Sport Management & Tourisme.
Lots of work in the administration and we re hoping to improve our study program in English, and hopefully we can have more joint programs with foreign institutions. IC: Teachers in Kaunas asked to promote Basketball Coaching Program. Info through the International Office handout also. Possibility of joining a clinic held in Lithuania. TS: SDU has, among other things, a strong strategic focus on developing new MSc tracks within sports science and contribute to the universities internationalization efforts. A new building is under construction, which will integrate research and development projects and facilitate innovation work. JM: The research area of actual interest at Department of Sports & Physiology in Elderly women. Huge work also to adjust to the teacher education, which is also of great interest to the Swedish government. HG: We might be moved to Reykjavik depends on political decision making. The problems regarding space are becoming more evident as we re having more and more students. This is due to us joining the university world lately. 2. Rules for exchange and an update regarding Economic status handed out. Handouts showing the amounts being given to cover both travel expenses and for living during exchange periods. Also it shows how much money has been granted to the various network groups. Usually the network receives less than has been applied for. This necessitates prioritization of applications from students and staff. This year SDU International Office covered expenses for SDU students attending the Nordisk Friluftsliv. Please consider other funding possibilities as well. Regarding 2012: Input is needed on how many students and teachers are expected to exchange in the coming year. This information is needed primo/medio January 2012, since the deadline for the next application is March 1 st. Also inputs from the network focus groups are needed. 3. Status of the Nordplus-Idrott network including economy and updates on the specific Network groupings (Applied Biomechanics, Coaching, Gymnastic, Swimming, Dance, Ball-games and Nordisk Friluftsliv ) Coaching network Slide presented by KF sent from Per Göran Fahlström. Grant from Nordplus : 1755 euros. KF will ask PGF to invite the Nordplus Network members in the coaching area to perhaps participate in their network meeting in March 2012 in Oslo. Expenses will not be covered. IC: Sports coaching Intensive Program, 2 weeks January 2 nd -14 th, 2012, A few ECTS could be open for students in the network. Send if interested in having students participating. The program is available for further information. For some institutions it may be difficult to make it possible for students to include the mentioned program in their study plan. Gymnastics network Slide presented by KF sent from Lars Elbæk. No grant to the group from Nordplus Swimming network Slide presented by KF sent from Lillian Madsen. No grant to the group from Nordplus Network represented in the Nordplus meeting by Hafthor Gudmundsson, Iceland. HF has had cooperation with KU, Lillian Madsen. Difficult to proceed with networking due to lack of funding/grants. Maybe participate in the biomechanical network group. Dance network Slide presented by KF sent from Helle Winther. SL: We re trying to restart the group again. Nordisk Friluftsliv network Nordplus grant: 2500 euros.
VT: 41 applicants from Sweden and Denmark for 27 places in No applicants from Iceland and Norway. KF: Plans about a joint master program in Nordisk Friluftsliv? Ball games network Torben Hansen, SDU, slide, presented by KF. It is still a closed focus group. JM: Meeting in Norway these days. They have never got money from Nordplus. It was recommended, once again, that this network group engage in opening its discussion and activities for all interested partners within Nordplus Idrott. 4. Network ambitions including coordination and discussions on possibilities in relation to common educational programs in a Nordic context including intensive programs Slide presented by TS showing last year s goals and suggestions regarding network ambitions for AM: Student and teacher exchange is the main focus for Nordplus Idrott. The network could be more active in promoting the exchange possibilities towards the students both on the web and directly via e- mails etc. from teacher to student. TS: goals for the future application underlined are the agreed points of focus next year: - Network focus groups - Exchange of students & staff - Courses - Programs - Better promotion at home institutions - Network meeting: Theory & Practice - Promotion within the Nordplus Idrott network about the different networks HG: The network isn t a travel agency we have to have a mission in the work in the networks. SL: Focus on bringing theory and practice together as the conference in Odense in 2004 showed. Also different attitudes depending on who is in charge in the different participating institutions. Could the application include the wish for having a similar conference to boost the networks work onwards? The meeting next year could focus on this last thing. KF: Easy access to courses offered in English - possible to have links through the homepage to study guides in English via links to the institutions offering courses in English on the Nordplus- Idrott/Member site. 5. Co-operation with other network groups (e.g. Nordic Sports Coaching) Are the groups the ones, we still should support? - Gymnastic apparatus work - Swimming - Ball games - Outdoor life - Dance - Coaching - New group biomechanics will be added to the Nordplus Idrott JM: Problematic that the ball games group isn t more open to interested parties. KF: Last year they were about to reboot the group getting it more active, but they didn t get any grant. 6. Home-page content KF/TS/CW presented homepage highlights going through the basic structures and content areas. KF encouraged members of Nordplus-Idrott to forward information regarding meetings and activities. Please check the member lists for the network groups. JM: If you have interesting news for other groups, the webpage could be a fine platform for exchanging this.
7. Miscellaneous SL: Reflection regarding the network focus groups the way we are thinking about the networks and developing of these are we facing the future or looking back on the past? TS: Depends on what is happening in the groups. MJ: Thinking forward in the gymnastics group towards new gymnastics areas parkour, and the use of technology. KF: PhD program related to Children, Physical Activity & Health in Iceland next year info on KF: EYHS scientific seminar next year in Madeira, October Key issues in Childhood Research. Thank you very much to Danguole and Irena for hosting and preparing the Nordplus Idrott Network Meetings. CD/
