In the very heart of the Atacama Desert, among sandy grounds, salty lakes, emerald lagoons and superb volcanoes, you will be able to live this adventure, discovering the beauty of an untouched land. Every person needs a period of acclimatization for this ascent. This time is devoted to learn about the surroundings. SPONDYLUS invites you to take part in an unforgettable mountain-experience. 2 2/7 DESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR: DAY 1: COPIAPO (IN) VALLE CHICO Reception in Copiapo. Transfer to Valle Chico (3000m), where we set our camp. Meals: Lunch, Dinner DAY 2: VALLE CHICO - LAGUNA SANTA ROSA rekking around Valle Chico. Then short drive to Laguna Santa Rosa. Camp (3700m). Observation of Local Fauna. View on Tres Cruces Volcano. DAY 3: LAGUNA SANTA ROSA Acclimatization day/hike around Laguna Santa Rosa. DAY 4: LAGUNA SANTA ROSA LAGUNA VERDE Transfer to the Laguna Verde (4350m). On the way we can see the highest volcanoes of the world: Tres Cruces (6753m), Incahuasi (6621m) and Ojos del Salado (6893m) and camp close to the thermal baths. DAY 5: LAGUNA VERDE Acclimatization day/hike in the area of Laguna Verde. In the afternoon rest in the thermal baths.

3 3/7 DAY 6: LAGUNA VERDE REFUGE ATACAMA Transfer to Refuge Atacama (5250m). DAY 7: REFUGE ATACAMA REFUGE TEJOS REFUGE UNIVERSIDAD DE ATACAMA Ascent to refuge Tejos (5750m) for acclimatization. Back to refuge Universidad de Atacama (5250m). DAY 8: REFUGE ATACAMA REFUGE TEJOS Climb to refuge Tejos (5750m). DAY 9: REFUGE TEJOS OJOS DEL SALADO REFUGE ATACAMA Climb of Ojos del Salado (6893m). Descent to refuge Atacama (5250m). DAY 10: REFUGE ATACAMA Security day. (Possible second summit attempt). DAY 11: REFUGE ATACAMA BAHIA INGLESA Long drive to Bahia Inglesa, nice village on the Pacific coast. Accommodation: Hotel Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

7 7/7 PHYSICAL AND TECHNICAL LEVEL: For everyone Medium Difficult For experts Physical Level Technical Level x x SECURITY: This trip includes a very good and responsible acclimatization phase, which is the base of any successful high mountain expedition. Of course we recommend an adequate physical preparation and good personal equipment. In order to guarantee maximum security for all expeditions we carry, for each group, emergency oxygen equipment (for mountains with more than 6000m), VHF radio transceivers, a first aid kit and according to the expeditions we also bring hyperbaric chamber and GPS. Additionally, travellers must have an insurance covering medical and evacuation expenses in case of accident. We require signing a responsibility discharge form in case of accident. All our guides have an excellent ground knowledge and extensive experience as mountain guides. We know that reaching the summit is more than a dream for any mountaineer. That is why we do our best to make all ascents successful. Most of the time, thanks to our real experience on these summits, we succeed.
