2 Feasibility. Design & Planning. Construction & Delivery. Having worked on numerous feasibility studies and development proposals across the UK, DGA have optimised the development potential of sites with major housing providers including Spiritbond, Ide Real Estate and Watkin Jones, as well as Universities including Kingston and UAL. DGA have recently worked with planning consultants GL Hearn and Iceni Projects in preparing applications for large scale studentled mixed-use developments in London, liaising with the London Boroughs of Islington and Newham as well as the GLA and the London Legacy Development Corporation. Experienced in fulfilling the role of executive architects, we provide a dedicated and competitive service within the student living sector. August 2015 saw the completion of our Sketch House development in Finsbury Park with Watkin Jones, providing 475 student rooms for University of the Arts.
3 The Practice DGA Architects was founded in London by David Gallagher in 1993, with Tom Berndorfer joining in We are an awardwinning practice which undertakes a range of small to large scale national and international projects with build costs up to 50m. Our diverse portfolio includes work in the education, commercial, urban design and masterplanning sectors. We have particular expertise in residential, mixed use and university student housing developments in London. Our philosophy is underpinned by a strong belief in elegant, practical and cost-effective design solutions which deliver innovative and sustainable responses to each brief. We invest time in developing strong relationships with our clients, fellow consultants and contractors to ensure that each project is a success and enjoyable for all involved. DGA have worked on numerous student-accommodation schemes for both developers and Universities, exploring the development potential of sites, developing the design through the planning process and working with developers and contractors through the construction period. We have a good understanding of both the design and construction phases of student housing and have a dedicated team experienced in delivering a high quality service.

5 > VIEW OF TYPICAL STUDENT CLUSTER BEDROOM Sketch House Feasibility Design Planning Location: Finsbury Park, London N4 Client: Watkin Jones Group Value: 58m Completion: September 2015 The scheme consists of 475 rooms of student accommodation in blocks of 6 to 7 storeys set around a landscaped courtyard with ground floor communal and retail space. Working closely with the site owner, developer, local residents and Islington Council DGA developed the design and guided it through the planning process. 27
6 Sketch House Construction Delivery Location: Finsbury Park, London N4 Client: Watkin Jones Group Value: 58m Completion: September 2015 Following planning, DGA developed the detail design and construction packages, seeing it through to completion on site with The University of the Arts and the developer.
7 Kingston University Feasibility Study Location: Kingston upon Thames, Surrey KT1 Client: Spiritbond Date: 2010 DGA were appointed to prepare a feasibility and design study for 1200 student bedroom units and communal facilities on former Thames Water land for Kingston University, along with the upgrading of pedestrian and cycle links to the main university campus along the Hogsmill River. The design seeks to give very student a view over a series of landscaped courtyards, with distinct halls of residence laid out to provide a relaxed and sheltered environment. This student village provides easy access to a new transport hub, as well as to on-site shops, sporting and communal facilities.
8 Duncan House Feasibility Study Location: Stratford High Street, London E15 Client: Watkin Jones Group Date: 2015 DGA were commissioned by Watkin Jones to undertake a feasibility study and design development for a university (University of London) student accommodation led mixeduse development located within the Olympic legacy area close to the perimeter of the Olympic Park in Stratford. The proposals involved the provision of a 30 storey tower on the focal corner of an island site, along with a 4-10 storey podium building set around a landscaped courtyard providing 600 student bedrooms, 70 mixed-tenure apartments, a 30,000 sqft teaching facility, and street-level retail and community-use spaces creating active frontages on all four sides of the development. DGA worked closely with the client and design team to develop a proposal for submission to Planning, the London Legacy Development Corporation and the GLA.
9 Shawlands Feasibility Study Location: Glasgow G41 Client: Ide Real Estate Date: 2015 DGA were approached by Ide Real Estate to undertake a development feasibility study for a mixed-use development providing retail, residential, and student accommodation elements located in Glasgow. The proposals involved creating a retail hub around a new public courtyard providing circa 51,000 sqft of commercial space, 300 mixed-tenure residential apartments and 200 room student accommodation.
10 Melbourne Street Feasibility Study Location: Brighton BN1 Client: Watkin Jones Group Date: 2015 DGA were commissioned by Watkin Jones to undertake a feasibility study and design development for a university student accommodation development located in Brighton. The proposals involved stripping-back and re-using an existing redundant commercial property complimented by some new-builds set in landscaped grounds providing 300 student bedrooms, with some retail and community-use spaces.
