Information Gathered Staff utilized behaviour rating scales from the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment (ASEBA) This information was obtained from multiple sources about a child s functioning at the time of initial treatment planning and at regular intervals during the course of treatment
Information Gathered (cont.) For the present analysis, data from 26 children were used. 22 boys and 4 girl with an average age of 8.5 Ratings were obtained from parent, teacher and staff after behavioural observation Three sets of behavioral ratings are seen on chart
Information Gathered (cont.) The AESBA Direct observation score provides information on the presence or absence of clinically significant behavioural problems Specifically it produces 3 scores Internalizing behaviour; Externalizing behaviour and Total behavioural problems It also provides a non normative score regarding the extent to which a child was seen to engage in on-task behaviours
On-task Behaviour Referred Children First Observation: On-task an average 63% of the time Second Observation: On-task an average of 69% of the time Third Observation: On-task an average of 85% of the time Comparison Children First Observation: On-task an average of 88% of the time Second Observation: On-task an average of 89% of the time Third Observation: On-task an average of 95% of the time
Outcomes Children that are referred to SBCIP present with some significant mental health problems and showed improvement on on task behavior, on average from 63% of the time to 85% of the time by third observation
Outcomes Over the course of three administrations the number of children who received clinically significant scores in any areas rated, generally decreased. Which suggests that the treatment plan is proving successful in improving children s functioning
Early Intervention Program
Information Gathered Research was gathered for 310 children for the EIP evaluation 154 males/156 Females Age range of 4 to 14 years 120 children from the public school board, 190 from the catholic school board 160 children from the county/150 children from the city
Information Gathered (cont.) Other forms of data collection includes Teacher ratings in overall pro-sociality at both pre and post program Glengarda staff ratings of the degree to skill scenarios Teacher and school administrator survey on the effectiveness of the program, and the extent to which it is still being used Parent satisfaction survey
Outcomes In all cases of follow up questionnaires, teachers indicate that they are still trying to use the program in their class In general, the findings indicate that EIP is effective in improving the social skill development in children Results demonstrate that children participating in the program show significant improvements in pro-social behaviour
Outcomes Skill Streaming In all cases of follow up questionnaires, teachers indicate that they are still trying to use the program in their class In general, the findings indicate that EIP is effective in improving the social skill development in children Results demonstrate that children participating in the program show significant improvements in pro-social behaviour
Executive Summary of Findings Overall, all sources of quantitative and qualitative data from clients, consumers and partner agency/professionals indicate that Glengarda is known and respected in the community and is perceived as appropriate and generally effective services in all areas.
