1 How to Setup Garmin VivoFit for Windows Login to your mynuvita.com account. Locate the cardio panel on the home page (as shown in the image on the right) that includes the message set up cardio monitor! click here and click on it. Note: If you do not see the cardio panel shown in the image on the right, from your mynuvita.com home page select Cardio (or Cardio 360) on the menu at the top, then on the next page select the Setup my Cardio monitor with Garmin link on the lower left under Cardio Resources. You will be taken to the Garmin monitor setup page shown on the right. Print the instructions listed under Step 1, or follow the steps in this document, these are the same instructions. Complete step 2 (shown in the image below) by clicking the link Click here to authorize Garmin Connect. Note: you should not skip this step unless the area highlighted in red below states that your Nuvita account is already linked to a Garmin Connect account. If you already have a Garmin Connect account, use the login credentials for that account, or click the link to create an account. NOTE: This is not your mynuvita.com credentials. Most new Garmin users will not have an existing Garmin Connect account and need to create one. By clicking Create One you will enter the required information to create your Garmin Connect account.

2 Enter all of the required fields and click Create Account. Note: The display name must be unique within Garmin s database, so you may need to put some numbers or extra letters in the display name, such as John334455, or Johnxyz. Once you have created your account you will be directed back to the Garmin setup page on mynuvita.com. Complete step 3 by clicking the link to install Garmin Express for Windows. Click Run to run the installer. This may screen may appear differently than shown below, depending on the web browser you are using. On this screen click the box that you agree to the terms and click the blue Install button. The rest of the steps follow a typical installation, click Yes or Next to continue. Follow the steps as prompted by the installer. You have now successfully installed the Garmin Express software. Click the blue Launch Garmin Express button. With Garmin Express launched click on add device to add your Garmin monitor

3 You will be prompted to plug in the USB ANT stick. Plug it into a USB port on your computer and have your device nearby. On your VivoFit, press and hold the device key (1) to turn on the device. When you turn on the device for the first time, it is in pairing mode. If your device is not in pairing mode, you must press and hold down the device button until PAIR appears, then let go of the button. The word PAIR should be flashing on the device. Note: until you pair your device with Garmin connect, the device has limited functionality. Wait until your device is found. This may take several minutes. It is best to not have any other devices within 30 feet of the computer. When it finds your device Click Add Device. If your device is not found, click Search Again and make sure it is in pair mode. Give your device a nickname so it will be easy to identify, such as Bob s VivoFit. Fill out your profile information and click Next. Select your preference about Anonymous Data Collection and click Finish. If you get this setup complete screen, click Close, don t click Go to Garmin Connect.

4 Begin Using Your Garmin VivoFit During Exercise Wet the electrodes of the transmitter and put it on around your chest with the logo upright and centered so that is snug and will not slip during exercise. To pair the VivoFit with your chest transmitter, step at least 30 feet away from anyone else that may be wearing a Garmin chest strap. After you have paired your device, you can be in the vicinity of other Garmin users, you just need to step away during the pairing process. 1. To pair your device, briefly press and release the VivoFit device button a few times until HEART appears, then wait for about a minute. Once the sensor pairs with your device, your heart rate and heart rate zone appear. Your heart rate is now paired with the VivoFit. 2. To record a timed heart rate session, press and hold down the device key until start appears, then let go of the key. The timer is now running and recording your heart rate, you can begin your activity (please see the second last page of this document for instructions to enable viewing your heart rate on the device while the timer is running). 3. To stop the timer hold down the device key for a couple seconds until stop appears. Your session is now saved on the device. Sync your VivoFit with Garmin Express to send the heart rate session to mynuvita.com. On your computer s taskbar, click on the Garmin Express icon to open Garmin Express To sync your VivoFit with Garmin Express, press and hold down the device button until sync appears on the screen, then let go of the button. Garmin Express should begin syncing. Provided you are in front of the computer the device should sync with Garmin Express. Wait until the device no longer displays sync, it should only take a minute. Congratulations! Your VivoFit is all set up and ready for you to start recording heart rate sessions. The following instructions are provided to help you get the most out of your device.

5 Wearing the Device VivoFit Basic Functions 1. Select the wrist band that fits best on your wrist. 2. Make sure the pegs on the clasp are fully inserted into the band. 3. Turn the clasp to the locked position (red marks on the clasp indicate unlocked). Replacing the Wrist Band 1. Remove the module from the band. 2. Insert the module into the replacement band. The device key on the module must be aligned with the key on the band. Pair your transmitter belt with the VivoFit 2 device 1. Wet the electrodes of the chest transmitter and put it on. 2. Briefly press and release the VivoFit device button until HEART appears 3. Your heart rate and zone should appear in a few seconds, the device is now paired. Secondary Key Functions You can press and hold down the device key (button) to cycle through the secondary key functions. Release the key to begin the selected function: Start starts the timer (or Stop to stop the timer if it is running) Sync sends data to your computer Sleep starts sleep mode Pair pairs your device with your computer (only needs to be done once so that your device shows up in Garmin Express) Start - Record a timed heart rate activity 1. Wet the electrodes of the chest transmitter and put it on. 2. Press and hold the device key until start appears, then let go of the key. 3. The timer is now running and recording your heart rate, you can begin your activity. 4. To stop the timer hold the device key for a couple seconds until stop appears. Sync send data to and from your computer 1. Hold down the device button until sync appears on the screen. 2. Provided you are within 10 feet of your computer it should start synching and send your heart rate session to mynuvita.com. 3. You can monitor the synch process by opening up Garmin Express and clicking your device. Do not move away from the computer until the sync completes.

6 To view heart rate while the timer is running By default Garmin does not have this option turned on for the device. You must change this setting by going to Garmin Connect. Here are the steps to make this change: Double click the Garmin Express icon on the computer taskbar. In Garmin Express, select your VivoFit device, then click Garmin Connect in the lower right of the screen. That will launch your connect.garmin.com web page. On your connect.garmin.com web page, click the blue menu icon at the top left to open the menu. Select Devices from the menu list. Click on your VivoFit device on the next page. Make sure that BOTH Heart Rate boxes are checked, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save. To sync your VivoFit with Garmin Express, press and hold down the device button until sync appears on the screen. Garmin Express should begin syncing. Now, while the timer is running, you can push the device button to see your heart rate, then keep pushing the button to see other options, until you return to the timer.

7 Sleep tracking During sleep mode the device monitors your rest. You can view the results by going to connect.garmin.com and selecting sleep from the menu. 1. When you are ready to go to sleep hold the device key until sleep appears. 2. When you wake, hold the device key to exit sleep mode. NOTE: Sleep tracking, movement and steps are not a part of the mynuvita.com program but can be viewed on your connect.garmin.com account. The red move bar After one hour of inactivity the red move bar appears and the device beeps to remind you to keep moving. Additional segments appear every 15 minutes of inactivity. You can reset the move bar by walking a short distance. History With the use of the heart rate monitor, the VivoFit will store your activities for approximately 12 days. It is recommended to sync your device at least once a week. If the data storage is full the device will automatically delete the oldest files to make room for new data. There is no way to view the history on the device, you must sync it with your computer. Battery Battery life is approximately one year. The VivoFit uses two CR1632 batteries. Refer to the manual link below for instructions to change the battery. The heart rate monitor (chest strap) uses one CR2032 battery.
