2 Number of antenatal care (ANC) visit % of women who gave birth The survey in 2005 showed that approximately 92% of women who gave at least a live birth received ANC, 93% did so from a skilled provider. NB: Gap to 100% refers to the proportion of women who did not go to ANC. Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) at delivery Utilization of services The survey in 2005 indicated that, in total, 98% of births was assisted by a skilled birth attendant. % of births assisted by SBA Utilization of services by subregion % of births assisted by SBA At subregional level, the latest survey indicated that the coverage remained almost universal across all areas. 2

By wealth quintile, a 2.5-fold difference was observed in the C-section between the poorest and the richest groups. Perinatal mortality rate (2005) Perinatal mortality rate consists of stillbirth and early neonatal mortality rate. The survey in 2005 indicated that the perinatal mortality rate was around 18 per 1000 births. Stillbirth rate was reported to be higher in rural areas than in urban areas. 4
5 Perinatal mortality rate by subregion (2005) At subregional level, the perinatal mortality rate ranged from a low of 7.8 per 1000 pregnancies in Ararat to a high of 42.1 per 1000 pregnancies in Shirak. NB: No cases of stillbirths and/or early neonatal deaths were reported in Ararat, Armavir, Gegharkunik, Lori, Shirak, Syunik and Yerevan. Perinatal mortality rate by wealth quintile (2005) 0 There is no clear relationship between wealth quintile and level of perinatal mortality. 0 Per 1000 pregnancies Neonatal (NN) and post-neonatal (PNN) mortality According to the survey in 2005, neonatal mortality was reported to be 17, and post neonatal mortality was 9 per 1000 live births. 5
6 Nutrition Anaemia in pregnancy The survey in 2005 suggested that approximately 27% of women had mild anaemia and approximately 12% had moderate anaemia. Low birth weight (LBW) % of babies weighing less than 2.5kg The survey in 2005 indicated that, of those who were weighed, 7.4% were reported to weigh less than 2.5kg at birth. Fertility Total fertility rate Total fertility rate per woman Total fertility rate consists of wanted total and fertility rate and unwanted total fertility rate. The average n women would have approximately 2 children by the end of her reproductive age. Of those, according to the survey in 2005, approximately 1.6 were reported to be wanted fertility rate. 6
7 Teenage pregnancy % of women aged pregnant with their first child The survey in 2005 indicated that approximately 2% of women aged were reported to be currently pregnant with their first child. The survey showed slightly higher teenage pregnancy rate among women living in rural areas than their urban counterpart. Family planning Modern contraceptive use % of currently married women using modern contraceptives At a national level, the survey in 2005 indicated that 20% of married women were using modern contraceptives. A higher prevalence of use was observed among women in urban areas. 7
