It is recommended to have a GPA of at least 2.5 and successfully pass one or more portions of the ompass Test. The ompass test is a college readiness test to evaluate a student s level of Reading, Writing and ath. (T)² areer Technical redit Transfer The Vanguard Tech enter is in the process of having several programs approved by the state for areertechnical redit Transfer (T)². Students who complete a program that is (T)² approved are guaranteed transferable credits to any of Ohio's public colleges and universities. The number of credits that are transferable varies for each program, but (T)² approval gives individuals a head start at any public college or university in the state. (T)² helps more high school students go to college and enter with college credit and saves money and time. STUDENT ATIVITIES 3 An integral part of The Vanguard Tech enter philosophy is the belief that students should be provided opportunities to grow and develop as citizens as well as to become skilled members of society. Students are encouraged to participate in the social and learning opportunities offered through membership in a areer-technical Student Organization such as: Business Professionals of America (BPA); DEA (association of marketing students); Family, areer and ommunity Leaders of America (FLA); Future Farmers of America (FFA); and SkillsUSA. AUTOOTIVE TEHNOLOG 4 Designed to prepare young adults for the beginning of a spirited and rewarding career in Automotive Technology and Repair and/or to further their educational career in a post-secondary setting. Students learn skills for basic auto repair and maintenance, on board diagnostics, wheels and tires as well as powertrain and driveline theory and operation in this challenging two-year program. Individuals become well versed in areas such as brakes & braking systems and electrical and electronics that are in line with today's industry repair standards. Benefits of this program include: ASE ertification testing with certificates of completion, articulation agreements with local colleges, and work placement for seniors. Students have the option to earn up to 11 college transcripted BUILDING & GROUNDS AINTENANE This two-year career-training program is designed for individuals with special needs. Students spend one-half of the school day in a lab setting and the other half-day with a licensed intervention specialist in an academic classroom. This allows students to earn the necessary credit required for graduation while developing the job skills needed for gainful employment. A smaller class size allows for individual attention when needed. our FUTURE! Students are fully involved in topics such as structural analysis and damage repairs; non-structural analysis and damage repairs; mechanical and electrical components; plastics and adhesives; painting and refinishing; and basic shop and safety practices. Those who complete the program are prepared to meet the requirements of industry standards and ASE certification. Students have the opportunity to earn 7 college transcripted OSETOLOG This two-year competency career program is designed to prepare 11th and 12th grade students to successfully pass the Ohio State Board of osmetology Examination and enter into employment as a licensed cosmetologist. In the second year these skills are refined, and an in-depth study of related technology concerning chemistry, electricity, anatomy, physiology, and salon management is undertaken as well as the review of all practical subject applications. ANWHERE DIGITAL TEHNOLOGIES 6 AE NEW Students learn the basics of the computer, communication and networking industries by learning how to repair, upgrade and maintain computers and technology as well as design and install networks with copper wiring, fiber optics and wireless technologies. Individuals develop trouble-shooting, customer support and management skills. Second-year students learn the network and server side of Information Technology, multimedia and web design, game programming, cell phone app programming, and application software. Each Digital Technologies junior receives a laptop computer, which can be purchased at the end of the senior year at a low cost depending upon grades. Students earn 14 transcripted college FRIENDS EARL HILDHOOD EDUATION The focus of the program is to understand the growth and development of children from birth to age eight. Students in the Early hildhood program participate in the planning, implementation and supervision of learning activities for children in The Vanguard Tech enter pre-school program. As individuals gain experience in the classroom setting, they compile a portfolio reflecting their overall internship and classroom participation. Students have the option to earn 9 college transcripted ELETRIAL TRADES The course prepares students for employment in the residential or commercial electrical construction industry. Students are involved in a broad number of experiences as they relate to the electrical trades. Assembly, installation, maintenance, repair, programming, and inspection of electrical equipment are taught. A vital unit taught in this lab deals with national, state and local electrical codes, as well as OSHA safety laws and personal safety. Qualifying juniors can work with electrical contractors during the summer before their senior year. Seniors can work with electrical contractors by alternating their work and school schedules. Students have the option to earn up to 8 college transcripted ENGINEERING TEHNOLOGIES & ROBOTIS Using a hands-on approach, students study engineering principles in Robotic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, echanical Engineering, and Alternative Energy. Robotic Engineering includes programming and design of robots and robotic work cells. This leads to high paying careers in the automotive, medical and agricultural fields. Students also study alternative energy technology (solar, wind, etc.), which includes constructing alternative energy systems and analyzing their potential energy, efficiency and practicality. Electrical Engineers specialize in electrical devices and systems that include mini computers called PLs. There are many career opportunities in Engineering Technologies & Robotics. Students will participate in the SkillsUSA Work Force Ready System, which provides assessments for areer and Technical Education that are supported by industry, education and policy leaders. They also earn 14 college transcripted ou WANT! ASONR Designed for students to learn skills and techniques necessary to become a brick or block mason. Students work with concrete, manufactured stone, as well as brick and block. They are taught to use hand tools and mortar to construct block and brick walls, fireplaces, foundations, sidewalks, and driveways. Those who qualify can work with masonry contractors their senior year by early placement or alternating their work and school schedules. Students have the opportunity to earn 11 college transcripted credits and 3 articulated EDIAL AIDE Provides individuals with the knowledge and professional foundation required for a career in the health care field. Students are prepared during their two-year lab experience to sit for their State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) test, which allows them to move directly into a health care facility for work or to further their education in a post-secondary setting. They have the option to earn up to 16 college transcripted Students also complete direct hands-on personal care training in a long-term care facility under the direction of their Train-the-Trainer Supervisor. EDIAL AREERS Program is designed to provide insight into an assortment of careers available in health care. Students receive classroom training in medical terminology and abbreviations, medical law and ethics, pharmaceutical math, communication, and Anatomy & Physiology. Individuals become proficient in an array of medical skills, which are taught and practiced in a state-of-the-art lab facility. They receive up to 16 transcripted college credits over 2 years and are encouraged to continue to pursue college level training in the career field of their choice. EDIAL INFORATION TEHNOLOG Program completers are prepared for a variety of different jobs in the health care industry, such as medical coding, transcription, billing, scheduling, diagnostic services, data research, and administrative support. Students have the option to receive advanced standing and/ or college credits from participating two-year and four-year colleges such as Terra ommunity ollege or Owens ommunity ollege. Further training can lead to associate and baccalaureate degrees in relative fields of study. Students have the option to earn up to 15 college transcripted WELDING & FABRIATION Designed to prepare students in welding and fabrication and acquaint them with the breadth and scope of occupations in welding and fabrication. Students in the Early hildhood program participate in the planning, implementation and supervision of learning activities for children in The Vanguard Tech enter pre-school program. Students are involved in a broad number of experiences as they relate to the electrical trades. Assembly, installation, maintenance, repair, programming, and inspection of electrical equipment are taught. A vital unit taught in this lab deals with national, state and local electrical codes, as well as OSHA safety laws and personal safety. Qualifying juniors can work with electrical contractors during the summer before their senior year. Seniors can work with electrical contractors by alternating their work and school schedules. Robotic Engineering includes programming and design of robots and robotic work cells. This leads to high paying careers in the automotive, medical and agricultural fields. Students also study alternative energy technology (solar, wind, etc.), which includes constructing alternative energy systems and analyzing their potential energy, efficiency and practicality. Electrical Engineers specialize in electrical devices and systems that include mini computers called PLs. There are many career opportunities in Engineering Technologies & Robotics. Students will participate in the SkillsUSA Work Force Ready System, which provides assessments for areer and Technical Education that are supported by industry, education and policy leaders. Students work with concrete, manufactured stone, as well as brick and block. EDIAL INFORATION TEHNOLOG Program completers are prepared for a variety of different jobs in the health care industry, such as medical coding, transcription, billing, scheduling, diagnostic services, data research, and administrative support.
