3 Affordable system monitoring Monitoring gives you the opportunity to keep an eye on a range of different systems in your network. The goal is early identification of potential problems. These can then be resolved before major disruptions occur. Here, special attention should be given to monitoring system-critical parameter and the OpenTAS services. For your monitoring, Implico and its OpenTAS Distribution Service recommend the flexible PRTG solution from Paessler AG. This network monitoring application offers a range of interesting options for network surveillance. If your OpenTAS environment features an interface and/or an automation module then you can easily keep an eye on these with the monitoring solution. If an error occurs, the system immediately triggers an alarm and notifies you. 4 Monitoring overview Below, we list the key parameters that should be monitored: Processor load If there is a constant heavy load on the processor, this can cause longer waiting times for a range of system tasks. Monitoring can provide early warning of rogue applications. RAM usage Permanently high usage of available RAM can also result in a sluggish system. RAM monitoring detects this, enabling countermeasures to be adopted in good time. Hard disk free space Hard disk bottlenecks can cause very serious problems. Insufficient free space can cause Oracle databases to halt, and other processes may simply crash. With long-term monitoring, forecasts can be made and appropriate countermeasures taken. EMCS availability This solution enables monitoring of the permanent connection to your EMCS service provider or your Clearing Center. Interface availability (WMI) The new OpenTAS interfaces offer the option of querying data via WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation). Monitoring ensures that all of the processes in the interface are running properly. Automation service availability Process monitoring checks the status of the automation service.

5 Many options for expansion Since the software can be extended as required, any of your network components can be monitored, such as... TCPc units, terminals, IP cameras This module checks device availability within the network. Network switches, routers For these network components, monitoring can check both availability and the load on the network ports and internal hardware. Oracle database Oracle databases offer the option of using a range of SQL statement to query database parameters in real time. Other servers, clients You can also monitor any Windows server or client. Network-capable UPS Network-capable UPS units can supply valuable information about their current charge status, available battery life and the current required load.
