Malnutrition in children under five years old based on districts in Indonesia with prevalence of > 40% (very high) is located in 5 districts which one them is West Kotawaringin district (Kobar). The result of nutrition status measurement survey or statistic center survey in Kobar district in the year of 005 showed that the prevalence of lack nutrition of children under five years old was. % and malnutrition was.%. Children under five years old who were below the red line from January to May 006 was 5%, 4%, 4%, 4.% and 4.6%. The improvement of nutrition condition is necessary to improve health, decrease mortality rate of infants and children under five years old, improve the ability of growth, physical, mental, child social, work productivity as well as academic achievement. One of the approaches that are often used is by conveying message or information through education, teaching and information so that it can be well obtained and understood. Objective : This research was aimed to improve knowledge, attitude and behavior of mother of children under five years old who joint the health information with audiovisual media, module and control as well as to find out the different level of the improvement before and after intervention. Method : This was a quasi experimental research that used pre test post test with control group design (random allocation). The population was allocated in three groups; control, treatment and audiovisual groups with 5 mothers who had mildly and severely malnourished children under five years of age respectively. Result : The improvement of knowledge, attitude and behavior of mothers who had children under five years old who joint the information with audiovisual media was higher than those who joint the information with module and control group.there was a difference on knowledge, attitude and behavior of mother of children under five years old before and after intervention. Conclusion : The result of the research showed that, in general, audiovisual method was better than module method and module method was better than without intervention (control group). Therefore, audiovisual was the best method to be used. Key words : information, audiovisual, knowledge, attitude, behavior STIKES Makasar Magister Gizi dan Kesehatan UGM, Yogyakarta / 7

Caries may prevent children from properly digest food, which is then impair nutritional intake and cause malnutrition. Objective : To assess the relation between the severity of dental caries with nutritional status and nutrient intake of 8-0 years old school children, in the sub district of Lhoknga, Aceh Besar, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam. Method : This was a case-control study of 54 undernourished children as cases compared to 54 well-nourished children matched for age as control. The severity of dental caries was assessed by a dentist using a caries severity index used by the WHO. Result : The prevalence of dental caries in undernourished children was 90.7%, while in well nourished children was 54.7%. The odds ratio (95% CI) for having dental caries in malnourished children was 7. (.-6.6), p<0,00. Compared to children without caries, the odds (95% CI) for undernourished in children suffering from severe dental caries was 0. (.-8.5). Dental caries was associated with lower intake of energy. The relative risk (95% CI) for children with severe caries to have inadequate energy intake was 4.9 (.7 4.7), p<0.00. Conclusion : Nutritional status was associated with the severity of dental caries. Children with severe dental caries had lower energy intake. In dealing with the problem, the Indonesian government has already implemented strategies including empowering health workers and families. It is very likely that the nutrition problem and the family awareness on nutrition are closely related. Families that practice balanced nutrition, are able to recognise and cope with their nutrition problems are defined as nutritionally aware or better known as Kadarzi. Objective : To study the impact of nutrition training on family awareness on nutrition in Samarinda province of East Kalimantan. Method : This observational study was carried out using cross-sectional design. The study population was household with under five years old children in Samarinda. A hundred and thirty two households were drawn from the population with cluster random sampling technique. The data gathered in the study were Kadarzi indicators, achievement program on Kadarzi, and related information that was collected by interviewing Head of Primary Health Care Center (puskesmas) and Integrated Health Service Center (posyandu) cadres at the village level. Result : The training on nutrition had an effect to attainment of the family awareness (kadarzi) in Samarinda (OR=6,9; 95 % CI =,98,8). Other variable which playing a part in of the influence was mother education. Conclusion : Nutrition staff who were well trained had an effect to attainment of the family awareness. 4 / 7

Dwi Budiningsari Background : Indonesia is a tropical country rich in various vegetables and fruits which are necessary for health because they contain lots of vitamins, minerals and fibers. However, Indonesian children and teenagers do not often pay attention to balanced nutrition, particularly vegetables and fruits. They even tend to choose fastfood which may lead to occurence of obesity. Prevalence of obesity among teenagers becomes an important issue because it 6 / 7

7 persists to adulthood. Impact of obesity is a threat to public health and needs serious attention. Considering the important role of vegetables and fruits for health especially among obese teenagers, awareness on the necessity of consuming them needs to be made and built through nutrition counseling. Objectives : The objective of the study was to identify the effects of counseling on the advantages of vegetables and fruits consumption to nutrient intake (energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate and fiber) among obese teenage students of junior high school at Palembang Municipality. Methods : The study was quantitative with quasi experimental design. Subject of the study were obese teenage students of junior high school at Palembang Municipality aged 5 years old. There were 7 respondents of intervention group and 7 respondents of control group. Samples were taken using non random sampling technique. T-test was used to find out effects of counseling to consumption of vegetables and fruits and nutrient intake before and after intervention. Results : Delta average value of fruit consumption and nutrient intake (energy, fat, carbohydrate, and fiber) based on t-test analysis showed significant difference in both groups with p<0.05. Meanwhile, delta average value of vegetable consumption and nutrient intake (protein) did not show significant relationship (p>0.05). Conclusion : Counseling on the advantages of vegetables and fruits affect consumption of fruits and nutrient intake (energy, fat, carbohydrate and fiber).
