Participation in current research projects Comparative research on interest groups in a multilevel system of governance. The goal of this research project is to promote a comprehensive theoretical and empirical understanding of the role that interest groups play in the Spanish political system. To do that we develop a comprehensive database in order to map out which interest organizations have participated, discussing which issues, across different policy venues from 1986 to The analysis shares some of the theoretical and methodological bases with two other international projects, Intereuro ( and Interarena ( which allows for the comparison of results with other advanced democracies. Principal investigator in Spain: Prof. Laura Chaqués. Spanish Policy Agendas Project ( Research project aimed to analyze policy dynamics in Spain from transition to democracy to present in a comparative perspective. This means to identify how new ideas, and new understandings of problems get into the Spanish political agenda for the last decades; and to give an explanation of why these variations on issue attention occur; to what extend issue prioritization by policymakers follows public preferences, and how policy actors especially mass media contribute to explain variations in the prioritization of issues across time. The project establishes a link between policy dynamics research and other areas of concern within political science, such as political representation and the quality of democracy.
