1 Traian-Eugen Rebedea Teaching Assistant Engineering Address: 313 Splaiul Independetei, Bucharest, Romania Phone: Date of birth: 12 March 1983 PROFILE I am a teaching assistant at the Computer Science and Engineering Department, Politehnica University of Bucharest. I have graduated in Computer Science, with major in Artificial Intelligence, and have a Masters degree in Computer Science (Advanced Internet Applications) from the same University. My interests and specializations are: Natural Language Processing (NLP), Discourse Analysis, Machine Learning and Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL). Currently, I am a PhD student under the supervision of Professor Stefan Trausan-Matu and my work focuses on employing Social Network and NLP techniques for the analysis of online conversations like instant messaging and discussion forums used for Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning. I am part of the FP7 project LTfLL (Language Technologies for Lifelong Learning) team and I am also involved in several national projects. I have published several papers on NLP and CSCL in proceedings of national and international conferences. Research Interests: Natural Language Processing, Discourse Analysis, Machine Learning and Technology-Enhanced Learning, Computer Supported Collaborative Learning. Teaching Interests: Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Adaptive and Collaborative Systems, Human-Computer Interaction. EDUCATION Doctor of Philosophy Student October 2007-present Engineering Dissertation topic: Using Natural Language Processing and Social Network Analysis to offer semiautomatic feedback to students and tutors regarding multi-users chat conversations and discussions on web forums in order to enhance the quality of the feedback and to reduce the time needed for processing this multi-user conversational data. The analysis of online conversations is a very interesting problem even outside the scope of TEL and CSCL, especially due to the spread of Twitter, Facebook and other social networks that encourage the engagement into conversations using status updates and short comments. Therefore, this domain becomes more and more interesting when considering real-time search technologies. Expected graduation: Spring-Summer 2011 Master of Science Engineering, Theme: Intelligent Internet Systems Thesis title: Social and Semantic Analysis of Chat Conversations Dissertation grade: 10/10 GPA: 9.50/10 (best 10%) Bachelor of Science Engineering, Major: Artificial Intelligence and Computer Graphics Bachelor thesis grade: 10/10 GPA: 9.66/10 (best 10%)
