Please check your audition slot and dance call against the audition schedule above and see location information for that timeframe below: CFRT 1209 Hay Street, Fayetteville NC Glass Block Room connected to the front lobby. CFRT Annex 1211 Hay Street, Fayetteville NC Next door to the CFRT main theatre building. Entrance is behind the theatre between the back of the theatre building and the back patio of Latitude 35. Fayetteville State University Capel Arena Room 140 Link to map on our website's auditions page here: Off of Murchison Rd turn left onto Langdon St. Take the second right onto Martin Luther King Drive (unmarked) and then an immediate right into the parking area for Capel Arena. REHEARSES: December 29 th January 21 st, Tuesdays-Sundays RUNS: January 21 st February 14 th, Wednesdays-Sundays AUDITION REQUIREMENT: Adults 18yrs+: Please prepare a short song in the style of the show, approximately 16 bars in length or a verse and a chorus. Please bring sheet music for your audition song, an accompanist will be provided. If you do not have sheet music you may also sing accapella or along to a recorded track. Teens 12yrs-17yrs: Please come prepared to sing a short song, approximately 1min long (16 bars/verse and a chorus). There will be no accompanist for the teen auditions so come prepared to sing accapella or along to a recorded track. *NEW Dance Call We are holding one large dance call on Monday 12 th on the campus of Fayetteville State University in Capel Arena from 4:30pm-7:00pm. We are encouraging all those auditioning to attend this dance call. If you absolutely cannot make the Monday night dance call, there will be an additional smaller dance call on Sunday night. The dance calls will begin with a basic combination and those who are proficient will be asked to stay for the advanced combination. Please dress prepared to move and wearing appropriate shoes for dancing. *NEW Callbacks If called back for a speaking role you will be asked to cold read from the script. Additionally, if you are called back for one of the principle singing roles (Aunt Em, Addaperle, Dorothy, The Wiz, Tin Man, Evillene, Glinda, Scarecrow, and Lion) you will also be asked to sing a portion of a song from the show. These cuts are posted on our website s auditions for you to preemptively prepare in case you are called back.

ABOUT THE SHOW: The Super Soul Musical "Wonderful Wizard of Oz", The Wiz is a musical with music and lyrics by Charlie Small and book by William F. Brown. It is a retelling of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the context of African-American culture. The 1975 Broadway production won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical was an early example of Broadway's mainstream acceptance of works with an all-black cast. A film adaptation was released in 1978 starring Dianna Ross as Dorothy. The original stage role of Dorothy was played by a young Stephanie Mills. Auditions are open to age 12 and up. *A perusal script is available in the CFRT Business Office, 1209 Hay Street Fayetteville, NC (Highland Ave entrance) Monday-Friday; 9:30am-4:30pm SEEKING THE FOLLOWING: Dorothy: (Lead): Female 12-20, African American Bright-eyed and alive as can be, would rather remain a child as long as possible instead of accepting the responsibilities of adulthood. Show stopping voice; range mezzo soprano. Scarecrow (Lead): Male, 18-40, African American Embarks on the journey to see The Wiz in hopes he can provide a brain; strong dancer and singer a plus; range, tenor. Tin Man: (Lead) Male 18-40, African American Joins in the journey in hopes the Wiz will provide him a heart because it isn t enough to be good looking. Very strong singer and dancer. Tap/Soft shoe a plus. Sings very iconic songs; range, baritone. Lion (Lead): Male 18-40, African American Big ol' Teddy Bear with a silky voice, comedic actor with ability to play for laughs. Strong singing voice; range, baritone. Evillene: (Supporting): Female 30-60, African American Wicked Witch of the West, low-down evil, not a kind bone in her body nor kind thought in her rotten mind. Looking for a performer with over the top stage presence; range, alto.

4 Glinda (Supporting): Female 20-60, Open Ethnicity Good Witch of the South, prettiest of all the witches, very wise in the way of making dreams come true an alto. Addaperle: (Supporting): Female 20-60, Open Ethnicity Good Witch of the North, the neighborhood 'auntie' has magic powers she refers to as "doing tricks." Comedic actress and singer; range, mezzo soprano. The Wiz: (Supporting): 20-40, Open Ethnicity All-powerful leader over the Land of Oz. Over the top performer - a singing smooth charismatic and persuasive con artists but ends up being lovable; range, tenor Ensemble: (Background / Extra) to include Toto (a dog), Pit Singers, Tornado Dancers, Munchkins, Crows, Kalidahs, Poppies, Field Mice, Emerald City Citizens, Soldier Messenger. Open Ethnicities Supporting Speaking Roles: (Supporting) to include Uncle Henry (Adult Male), High Underling (Any age Male), Royal Gatekeeper (Any Age or Gender), Lead Winged Monkey (Any age and Gender, Open Ethnicities) FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: What if I have little stage experience? A: We will be taking a photo of you with your audition number at the auditions but would always appreciate a good quality, recent shot of you in lieu of a professional headshot. If you do not have a resume, there will be space on our audition form for you to fill out any theatre experience that you may have.
