Upcoming work include utility adjustments, readying the temporary pedestrian bridge for use, removal of the north sidewalk, and ongoing work on I-290.

Phase 1 of construction is anticipated to start in November of During phase 1of construction, work will take place on the southerly part of the bridge while traffic is shifted to the north.

25 Detour Plan: Description The previous slide showed an aerial of the detour plan associated with the reconstruction of the Belmont Street Bridge. The detour plan has been implemented as a result of the restricted left turn from Belmont Street onto the I-290 on-ramp. The detour route utilize Major Taylor Boulevard and Shrewsbury Street to access I-290.

27 Completion: Description The previous slide showed an image of the completed Belmont Street Bridge road configuration. As part of the new structure, a left-turn only lane will be provided to access the I-290 onramp as well as reduce queuing on the bridge itself.

Rectangular rapid flashing beacons improve pedestrian safety by alerting motorist that a pedestrian is crossing the street. This photograph was take in Jamaica Plain on Washington Street.

33 UMass Medical/Edward Street Crossing: Description The previous slide showed an aerial of the new pedestrian crosswalk in front of the UMass Memorial Health Center. The image highlights the removal of 2 crosswalks and installment of a new crosswalk. The project scope was expanded to include this intersection after concern was voiced over pedestrian safety at this location.
