2 1 ENGLISH, MATHS, ESOL & GCSE English, Maths and Science are essential for everyday living. If you can fill in forms, work out your bills and speak clearly it is easier move forward and get what you want from your life. Plus, basic maths and English are a must have for getting most jobs. If your skills in maths, English or science are letting you down, you are not alone. The World Literacy Foundation state that one in five people in the UK lack basic skills in literacy and numeracy. Some adults don t like to ask for help and let their skills hold them back. Yet it is quick and easy to get your reading, writing, maths and speaking up to scratch, even if you didn t get on well at school. Our courses allow you to take control of your English, maths and Science. You will join a course that s the right level for you and our friendly tutors will support you all the way. These courses may have a higher fee than stated due to changes in government funding. This would be payable back once your annual income is above 21,000 per annum. You will be expected to engage with a variety of texts that will develop your ability to communicate and understand ideas. You will be tested via coursework, controlled assessments and a final exam. You ll cover literature to help develop reading skills, analyse texts and improve writing skills. GCSE English Language (Evening) Code: 3140 Start date: 19/09/2013 Time: pm Fee: 210 1/3/6/7 GCSE English is a key qualification that acts as a gateway to furthering your education and career. It encourages you to think logically and apply the principles you learn to everyday situations. You ll start with the basics, making calculations and solving problems before moving on to number systems, formulae, graphs, functions and algebraic equations. Geometry will be explored, and you will discover ways to calculate the qualities of various shapes and areas. You ll also learn to collect and assess mathematical data, using it to solve a specific problem and interpret and assess the results. GCSE Mathematics (Evening) Code: 6166 Start date: 17/09/2013 Time: pm Fee: 210 1/3/6/7 Maths is about more than numbers. It s an ideal starting point if you would like to progress to more advanced studies and sciencerelated careers. Flexible assessments with unit exams available twice a year, in January and June.
