Educating Boys Developing Fine Young Men THE HUTCHINS SCHOOL Strategic Plan
2 THE HUTCHINS SCHOOL We have a school that can be justifiably proud of its high standards, impeccable reputation and strong traditions.
THE HUTCHINS SCHOOL 3 Developing Fine Young Men On behalf of The Hutchins School Board I have much pleasure in presenting the School s Strategic Plan The Strategic Plan builds on the Strategic Plan and is the culmination of a significant effort from the School s Board, Executive and management. The Strategic Plan provides detail on six statements of strategic intent that are focussed on ensuring the School adapts to the rapidly changing educational and economic environments while it continues to deliver the highest educational outcomes. The Strategic Plan also has emphasis on the School s role in local, national and international communities and the education debate. The document also details strategies to ensure the School attracts, retains and develops the best teaching and support staff who are so vital in delivering the School s educational and administrative agenda. The Strategic Plan has been marked by the successful implementation of the strategies that it contained. On behalf of the Board I congratulate and thank the many hard working staff who participated and contributed to the Strategic Change Teams that undertook the strategy implementation. The Strategic Plan will be underpinned by many actions to be developed by the Headmaster and staff. It is the Board s intention to provide the School community with regular updates on the implementation of the Strategic Plan as it progresses. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to the development of the Strategic Plan and commend it to you. We have a school that can be justifiably proud of its high standards, impeccable reputation and strong traditions. The Strategic Plan has been created to ensure that those standards, reputations and traditions continue well into the future through the ongoing development of fine young men. FROM THE CHAIRMAN Lance Balcombe
4 THE HUTCHINS SCHOOL It is with much pleasure that I commend to you our Strategic Plan for The Hutchins School At the core of the pages that follow is a commitment by The Hutchins School to leadership in education for boys, planning for the future of the School and ensuring our policies and practices are aligned with our strategic intent. The past five years have witnessed a period of significant achievement at The Hutchins School in the areas of: teaching and learning capability; development of curriculum specific to the education of boys; enhancement of relationships within the School and external to the School; development of infrastructure and financial capacity; enhancement of local, national and international relationships; and the adoption of information and communications technology to support and enhance all school functions. I wish to note that achievement of The Hutchins School Strategic Plan has been made possible through a FROM THE HEADMASTER WARWICK DEAN
THE HUTCHINS SCHOOL 5 synergy of Strategic Change Teams led by volunteer members of staff, members of The Hutchins School Executive and the Board. This has been a laudable result as a process and in terms of measurable outcomes and I congratulate support groups, the Executive, Board and particularly Staff Strategic Change Teams for their successes and commitment. I am proud to note The Hutchins School remains an Anglican boys day and boarding school enrolling students from Kindergarten to Year 12. In so doing it continues to provide many opportunities at all learning levels for developing the character of boys through their participation across a wide range of age and stage appropriate education experiences. Our Statements of Strategic Intent will enhance our capacity for developing boys intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual and social knowledge, skills and attributes. This will be provided by a committed and professionally developing staff who desire attainment of excellence in teaching and learning outcomes. A culture of unselfish leadership and a sense of community and service based on Christian values remains a strong focus and will continue as an integral part of our vision and mission for the future as we seek to engage further with our local, national and international communities. Our Statements of Strategic Intent signal a desire to continue to build upon the good name and reputation of our high performing school, to enhance curriculum in its scope and sequence, timely delivery of information and communications technology capability, foster involvement in our future for all families and to be a point for continued provision of outstanding education facilities. I look forward to all students, parents, staff, old boys, members of the Foundation and our supporters in the broader community enjoying the benefits that will flow from the successful implementation of our intent.
