Page VE24 vacuum circuit breaker Product description Built upon Eaton's heritage of vacuum technology, the VE24 vacuum circuit breaker series is 24kV 3-phase indoor vacuum circuit breakers integrated with an encapsulated pole, from 630A to 3150A and ka to ka with rated frequency 50-60Hz. VE24 series is designed to achieve control and protection for medium voltage equipment and applications in industrial, mining and utility industries. By adopting APG technology, the encapsulated pole unit protects the VI and other components of the main circuit from physical impact, dust and condensation, thereby making it ideal for operation less than ideal ambient conditions. The draw-out design equipped with dedicated cassette is also available. Highly reliable vacuum circuit breaker with superior breaking capability. No maintenance needed for key components. The proven spring operating mechanism provides stable performance and excellent anti-corrosion performance, therefore needing less maintenance within its life cycle. Type tests are conducted-according to GB standard: electrical endurance: E2; Mechanical endurance: M2; breaking capacitive current: C2. Consistency in dimension and pre-engineering tests in switchgear in plants guarantees interchangeability. Mechanical operation in routine tests ensure the stability of product performance. 1

Positive indication of the circuit breaker operating status is provided on the front panel of the circuit breaker for easy visual verification. The encapsulated pole unit (EPU) used in VE24 series circuit breakers ensures reliability in operation of vacuum interrupter (VI) and other key components. The EPU of VE24 has following features: A vacuum interrupter with lower contact resistance is used. Main circuit resistance is 10-20% lower than for compound insulation, thus improves temperature rising conditions from the heat source. The main circuit is protected by EPU from dust accumulation which can result in the deterioration of heat dissipation. The main circuit is encapsulated by epoxy resin, whereby the current-carrying components won t be exposed to temperature fluctuations or oxidization which can result in the deterioration of heat dispersion. The main circuit is encapsulated by epoxy resin, ensuring that the connecting components won t loosen due to mechanical operations, long-time use or temperature changes, thus avoiding overheating issues. The number of components of the main circuit is only -50% of that of composite insulation type circuit breakers, which optimizes the control of phase and polarity spacing between the contact arms and tulip contacts and improves the contact head centering and contacting. The heat dissipating components of the large current EPU use epoxy coating process to control insulation. Thus, larger heat dissipating components with a broader radiating surface are used to improve heat dispersion. The main circuit is encapsulated by epoxy resin, so as to guard against the possibility of small parts and other foreign material left over from the installation and commissioning stage and provides protection against the ingress of water during operation, thus preventing possible short circuit or arcing events. Ideal for medium voltage control and protection in medium voltage power supply and distribution system The VE24 is equipped with superior spring charging mechanism, utilizes modular design that is offering optimized mechanism main parts distribution, simpler structure and more reliable performance. The whole mechanism is composed by three modules: charging, closing, opening. Assembly and maintenance of these three parts are very simple. The spring charging mechanism composed by ratchet wheel mechanism, oscillator and closing spring is compact and smart. The operating mechanism is usually equipped with manual charging device and electric charging device, enabling automatic reclosing function. The circuit breakers with manual charging operating mechanism are equipped with manual opening and closing operation buttons, breaking position indicator and spring mechanism charging status indicator, switch operations counter, shunt release auxiliary switch, position and fault signals, etc.. The circuit breakers with electric charging operating mechanism have complementary spring charging motor, shunt release, trip free relay, and auxiliary switch for spring charging motor release.
