2 Ofsted Judgement Criteria Outstanding (1) The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding. All other key judgements are likely to be outstanding. In exceptional circumstances one of the key judgements may be good, as long as there is convincing evidence that the school is improving this area rapidly and securely towards outstanding. The school s thoughtful and wide-ranging promotion of pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and their physical well-being enables pupils to thrive. Safeguarding is effective. The Overall Effectiveness of Woodside School Achievement at Woodside School Ofsted judged achievement in our pre-school/fs1 inspection to be outstanding (Feb 13) Ofsted judged achievement to be good throughout our school (Feb 15) End of EYFS 2016 Our % of children achieving a good level of development at the end of the EYFS 2016 was 7.% Percentage of children emerging in all 17 areas of learning has decreased when compared with 201/15 data. Percentage of children achieving at least the expected level in all 17 areas of learning has increased when compared with 201/15 data. In the Prime Areas, between 91.2% and 97.8% of children have achieved either expected or exceeding.

3 In reading, 11.6% increase in percentage of children achieving either expected or exceeding compared to last year. In writing,.7% increase in percentage of children achieving either expected or exceeding compared to last year. Percentage of expected or exceeding children in reading is higher than writing by 8.9%. Percentage of expected or exceeding children in shape, space and measure is higher than number by 6.6%. In number, 3.7% increase in percentage of children achieving either expected or exceeding compared to last year. In shape, space and measure, 10.3% increase in percentage of children achieving either expected or exceeding compared to last year. In understanding the world, between 96.7% and 100% of children have achieved either expected or exceeding. In expressive arts and design, between 96.7 and 97.8% of children achieved either expected or exceeding. The GLD has improved from 67.1% (201/15) to 7.% (2015/16) a 7.3% increase. This is 6% better than last years average GLD for Shropshire. End of Year 1 Phonics 2016 Year 1 phonics screening standards in 2016 were 73% attaining the expected standard. End of Year 2 Phonics Retakes % of children retaking the Phonics Screening Test attained the expected standard. Governors have an even better insight and understanding of the impact of the decisions they make in regard to all areas of activity across our school. The quality of teaching improves across our school as evidenced through classroom observations, standards attained etc. Participation levels in sport and other physical activity both within and outside of the school day increase measurably. The quality of teaching of PE, Sport and Dance further improves measurably and there is a marked improvement in the quality of learning as a consequence. The quality of teaching across the school is enhanced by the use of i- pads and i-tv. The quality of learning and the learning experience is improved and enhanced through the use of advanced technology. Our transition processes and procedures more effectively prepare all children for the next part of their learning journey. The SOWs of our Woodside Curriculum serve as an effective planning and tracking tool to ensure that the learning experiences that we offer our children are of the highest standard. All colleagues ensure that equality and diversity are at the heart of their practice. All colleagues are aware of the signs of CSE and flag up any suspicions immediately. All Leaders have a much more detailed, informed knowledge and understanding of how colleagues are implementing all safeguarding policies and procedures. There are relatively high levels of deprivation locally. Our school is situated in the Gatacre Ward of Oswestry, the thirteenth most deprived ward in Shropshire and 9812/3282 nationally as measured on a range of deprivation indicators. Castle Ward, in which 10% of our children live, is the fourth most deprived and 6833/3282 nationally. (Index of Multiple Deprivation Scores in 2009 in Shropshire). We converted to an academy on 1 st May 2013 School numbers are currently very high. We have a Sure Start Delivery Centre on our site. Start at Woodside was judged to be outstanding in all areas (Ofsted February 13). Our school was judged to be good with outstanding features (Ofsted February 2015). There has been a significant increase in the number of EAL children over the past four years. Our school ethos has high expectations and standards, respect and positive citizenship at its core. We are a member of the local Education Improvement Partnership (18 schools) and the Integrated Learning Partnership (8 schools). We have high numbers of SEN children: 12%.

10 We first gained Investors in People status in 2002 We have been awarded quality marks in the Arts, Sport, Healthy Lifestyles and Healthy Eating. As an LA school, we were one of the most poorly funded schools in Shropshire, which is one of the most poorly funded LAs in the country.
