1 Sheet 1.1 System Overview The E-Lume-A-Path system consists of 3 major components, the System controller, FLATLITE electroluminescent light strips and clear extrusions which serve as the lamp fixture, in addition to other items such as connectors, exit signs and extrusion accessories. These components combine to create a highly flexible system designed for ease of installation in new construction or retrofit installations. System Performance Specification The egress path marking system shall be arranged to provide automatic activation in the event of any of the following: (1) Activation by a fire alarm or other supervisory system signal; (2) Interruption of normal lighting such as any failure of public utility or other outside electrical power supply; (3) Opening of a circuit breaker or fuse; (4) Manual act(s), including accidental opening of a switch controlling normal lighting facilities. Illumination shall be provided for not less than 90 minutes Model EP1500 Controller Ratings Line Input Power VAC, 50/60Hz, Normal standby load 5 watts; Active load 125 watts at maximum load. System Activation Control Signal Options: * Contact Closure (load of 12vdc at 20ma) * vdc (at 6-12ma load) * Contact Opening (load of 12vdc at 20ma) * Loss of line power Controller Output Output Power: Nominal 210VAC at 600Hz, Power limited circuit with a maximum ampacity of less than 2 amps at full load (4500 square inches of FLATLITE lamp). System Capacity The EP1500 drives up to 4500 square inches of FLATLITE lamp which equates to 1500 linear feet of 0.25 width lamp. Low level exit signs, at approximately 69 square inches per sign, can be located within the lighting circuits and will reduce the overall linear footage that can be driven. One exit sign is equal to 23 feet of 0.25 width lamp Output Channels Total system load can be carried one or more of 4 output circuits called channels. Each channel can be set to utilize any of the available functions through means of internal dip switches. Battery backup / Standby Power The EP1500 controller has an integral battery charger and battery set that is sized to fully run the system for a minimum of 90 minutes as specified by UL1994. The battery backup is automatically engaged upon a loss of Line Power until the AC line power is restored or the backup battery becomes discharged. Additional backup time is achieved with the addition of battery capacity either within the controller or as a separate battery cabinet. The Battery system operates at 24 VDC and utilizes (2) 12VDC batteries that are charged in parallel through a 1-step charging process. Charge recovery time is < 24 hours. Dimensions: W X H X 4 D

2 Sheet 1.2 System Wiring The E-Lume-A-Path System is classified as a Class 1 Power Limited System per NFPA 70, National Electric Code (NEC) Section 725. Two conductor, 18 AWG stranded wire is recommended for lamp distribution. (Note: Select distribution wiring in accordance with local electrical codes.) Because the operating voltage is a nominal 200VAC with low ampacity, there is considerable latitude on the maximum distance between the controller and lamp connections. A line distance of 500 continuous feet would be acceptable. EP 1500 System Controller Figures and Diagrams Figure 1 is the outside view of the System Controller. Visible on the front panel are 4 indicator lamps and a system push-to-test button. Figure 2 is a view of the interior of the system controller with removable inner panel and batteries. Figures 3A & 3B are views of the fuse and battery replacement data, which are located inside the front panel door. Figure 4 is a diagram of the complete Cabinet Dimensions. Figure 5 is a diagram of the Channel Board features, which are located inside the front panel door. Figure 6 is a diagram of the Power Board features, which are located inside the front panel door.
