Vocabulary: Zero Product Property For every real number a and b, if ab = 0, then a = 0 or b = 0. In other words, when multiplying two numbers, in order to get a product of 0, one of the two numbers have to be 0. 5 How do I solve quadratic equations by factoring? You can also use the Zero Product Property to solve equations in the form of ax 2 + bx + c = 0 if the equation can be factored. 1. Make sure the equation is in standard form (ax 2 + bx + c = 0) 2. Factor the quadratic equation. 3. Use the Zero Product Property to separate and set each factor equal to Solve each equation. 5.
